Bluetooth driver issues on Windows and Linux. I haven't figured out yet how to have a conference with these headphones,. Works fine on Mac though The larger over-ear pads are more expensive but excel in comfort, offering better sound isolation than on-ear variants. Aimed more for longer listening sessions, these cups are available in either PU Leather or Alcantara. Producers will especially enjoy the Alcantara over ears which instantly turns the TMA-2’s into the most comfortable headphone we have ever tested. The AIAIAI TMA-2 DJ XE headphones are an expansion of the Danish audio specialist's TMA-2 DJ headphone line, targeted at DJs. And like my HD 25, the wired TMA-2 DJ XE on-ears don't weigh much at 168g (the HD 25 came in at 140g, without cables). The AIAIAI TMA-2 MOVE Wireless are an immensely practical set of headphones. Their simple design will complement virtually any use or situation. They have an easy-to-listen-to sound signature that is fun and non-fatiguing. With an amazing 40 hours of battery life, you won’t have to charge them often, and if you forget and the battery goes flat, there’s a wired connection mode as well.

AIAIAI’s headphones and their components are built to the highest standard, with no compromises on quality. From the unique bio-cellulose speaker drivers to the lightweight materials, you’re guaranteed precise professional-quality sound and supreme comfort with every version of the TMA-2. Redbook CD audio (44.1kHz/16-bit) has an audio bitrate of 1,411 kbps (@16-bit), just below the 1500 kbps limit of the W+ Link. The midrange gains warmth from the lower frequencies and gradually tapers off as the frequencies rise. This gives a nice vocal presence, with plenty of weight, and avoids any unpleasant harshness. It’s a smooth sound signature with a more relaxed upper end that makes the TMA-2 MOVE Wireless easy to listen to for long periods. With that said, two of the components in the box are unique to this TMA-2 configuration: the H10 headband and the X01 transmitter. You’ll need both of these for the Studio Wireless+ flagship feature (2.4GHz transmission; more on this later) to function. You can buy both of these components as a pair, but they’re not sold separately. By using this material in our products we have contributed to recycled [sic] over 25 billion plastic bottles. Compared to making what’s called virgin fiber, making REPREVE offsets using new petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process.” – AIAIAI Controls are annoying: On/Off button on 2,4GHz receiver and headphones needs to be pressed for 6s to boot, 3s to shut down But not so much detail that you obsess, and definitely not too much to burn your ears out (hence the giant 3k earbuzz omission, and my personal ‘hate zone’, which is a known quantity at this point :D). AIAIAI offer four choices of ear cups made with memory foam that clip neatly onto any speaker unit via four ball joints. The on-ear pads will feel very familiar to anybody that has worn Sennheiser HD-25’s headphones before. Available in either PU leather or microfibre, these pads are comfortable and offer decent isolation.

If memory serves me, the first time I came across AIAIAI gear was circa 2010 when I spotted Ross "HudMo" Birchard sporting some of the earliest generation TMAs. Instantly, I thought to myself, "R.I.P. HD25 mk2...". The benefits of an all-plastic design are always in weight savings and comfort. The TMA-2 MOVE Wireless are more comfort-oriented than the slightly smaller XE version, including the H03 “high-comfort” headband and plush E04 memory foam and PU leather over-ear ear pads. The E04 over-ear pads (left) and E10 on-ear pads (right). There’s certainly a technical difference in the audio quality between streaming via Bluetooth or 2.4GHz, but this depends entirely on the source material. A ‘normal’ quality stream via Spotify won’t sound all too different between modes as the source is already compressed, but a FLAC file will (in theory) exhibit better dynamics as they won’t be ‘crushed’ by the compression process of streaming via Bluetooth.Other cables include inline mic options with a lightning port for iPhones, USB type C for Android, and finally a Triad hi-fi cable. The triad hi-fi cables feature better shielding for reduced interference although we’re unsure how noticeable this difference will ever be. Robust, durable and nicely finished, we have no complaints with the TMA-2 cable options, with a cable to suit every need. This can be mitigated by turning the source device volume up to the maximum (or the highest level that does not cause audible distortion) and reducing the headphone volume – thus improving signal-to-noise and reducing the hiss. Still, it is never truly inaudible in silent sections within or between songs. The TMA-2 modular concept is great, and although it’s not possible to get a true sense of which components will best suit you, the product descriptions for the two review configurations are pretty accurate. Overall, they are great for recording, DJing and general listening, though there are more suitable studio headphones for mixing and mastering. AIAIAI are making a very conscious effort to reduce their impact on the environment, and their philosophy can be seen throughout the TMA-2. The modular design not only allows users to create their ultimate headphone, but it enables the same pair to be used in various situations. Rather than having three pairs of headphones, one for DJ’ing, another for travelling and finally a pair for producing. The DJ can now have their TMA-2’s, use the Bluetooth connection whilst travelling and then connect a cable when at the gig. Once home, switch the speaker units for a more balanced sound profile and use the headphones to produce.
