Description

Once your Fire Logs are burning nicely, you can adjust the air controls to optimize either for longer burn time (lower air intake settings) or high heat output (higher air intake settings). If you want to thoroughly enjoy your wood burning stove, whilst maximising heat output and getting great value for money, choosing the right artificial logs is paramount. RUF briquettes are made by grinding wood shavings and sawdust into a homogeneous pulp and form into a briquette under very high pressure.

The production process is also key to creating top class briquettes as intense pressure is needed to form them. If you want your fire to last then we’d recommend using ash wood burning logs because they can burn for up to 5 or 6 hours and also don’t produce much smoke.

However, they do not generate the high and consistent heat of something like Pini-Kay or Beech Nestro. In most situations good firelighting emphasises starting with small fuel then working up through progressively larger fuel until you have a fire the size you want. Our Hobbit Logs come in two lengths – 20cm and 15cm so you can find the one that’s right for you and your log burner.

Burns slowly with a good heat output and produces a pleasant smell with little sparking or spitting. If you find that you are burning through your firewood too quickly, this is a great alternative to try. You’ll get all of this when you come to FirewoodFund – people passionate about firewood and the art of sustaining a fabulous burn.

Incidentally, using a tarp, especially a reflective tarp inside your lean-to wall will reflect a lot of the fire’s infrared heat back onto you, as well as provide wind and water protection. What you need to do instead is create your base with kindling, newspaper and firelighters to get the wood burner up to a high temperature and then put your wood burning logs in. Yes, although traditional firewood may be cheaper to purchase initially, heat logs provide more heat per unit, meaning you’ll need fewer logs to heat your home. These little changes can make all the difference – and so too can using artificial logs in your wood burner for a consistent burn.
