James Woods is expertly cast as Gabriel and his ease at playing a hustler is entertaining throughout. Two small edge tears on the bottom edge, crease from the left edge center up to the top edge, Otherwise Very Good! For con artist Gabriel Caine (Woods), Diggstown is the promised land, legendary for its high-stakes boxing matches that attract high-rollers from miles around. His con man friend makes a foolish bet with Diggstown's owner on who'd win the boxing matches - their man against ten Diggstown men.

Upon hearing a remark that Diggs once knocked out five fighters in one day, Fitz “drunkenly” says he knows of a fighter who could knock out any 10 in one day: Honey Roy Palmer. We are licensed though the major international studios to issue public and commercial non-theatrical screening licenses to the Republic of Ireland. Diggstown is one of those films trying to straddle a genre gap, and it doesn`t do too badly at the attempt, telling a story about a hustle involving boxing, Rocky meets The Sting. Set in the fictional Diggstown, Gabriel Caine (James Woods) a recently released ex-con sets his sights of taking down the unspoken ruler of a small town who is responsible for his friend losing his life. In 'Midnight Sting' (1992), ex-con Gabriel Caine (James Wood) heads for Diggstown, a place where unofficial boxing matches are held for big prize money.

Caine discovers that Gillon's treachery (and his bank account) goes deeper than Diggstown people know. Playing to Gillon`s avaricious nature, and with the aid of partner Fitz, Caine sets up a wager with Gillon, that a washed-up has-been fighter can knock out ten straight opponents in the space of 24 hours. James Woods plays the consumate conman who sets up a boxing sting involving Louis Gosset Jr as the boxer, and Oliver Platt as their accomplice.Der frisch aus dem Knast gekommene Kunstfälscher Gabriel Caine (James Woods) wettet mit dem reichsten Mann von Diggstown John Gillon (Bruce Dern), dass der 48 jährige Boxer Roy Palmer (Louis Gosett Jr. Ex-con Gabriel Caine (James Wood) heads for Diggstown, a place where unofficial boxing matches are held for big prize money. From the opening scenes we get to witness how the fast talking sleek Gabriel runs hustles within the prison and from there the film entertains at every turn.

A not so well known gem of a film, which I saw at the cinema at the time, and ought to be in the collection of anyone who likes con-artist/sport/semi-comedy-semi serious type fare. But just when all looks lost, Caine whistles at Torres, gets his attention, straightens his tie and does a thumbs-down gesture (copying a move Gillon did earlier). Gabriel Caine ( James Woods), a con man, is released from prison in Winfield, Georgia and immediately gets to work on his next scam. The cons with twists and reveals are very satisfying and the boxing scenes are very well shot and add tempo bringing everything together for a very satisfying final act. For con artist Gabriel Caine (James Woods), Diggstown is the promised land, legendary for its high-stakes boxing matches that attract high-rollers from miles around.Caine and Fitz wager Gillon that aging boxer Honey Ray Palmer can outbox any 10 men in a 24-hour period. As his manager, Gillon drugged Diggs during a fight so that Gillon could collect on the opponent's long odds. He is feared by many but also respected because he is the former manager of Diggstown's pride and joy, the once-famous boxer Charles Macom Diggs, the man for whom the town is named. He truly embodies a nasty greedy man who feeds off power and corruption and will stop at nothing to win.
