Description

These operatives are especially frightening at the controls of a Recon Drone, whose burst cannon can reap a bloody toll against enemy kill teams. Frankly, you want to be shooting with it as often as you possibly can. Allows units within 6″ of a charged unit to fire overwatch as if they were the target of the charge, at the cost of not being able to fire overwatch again that turn. Be careful with matching your green tones and hues with any common tabletop scenery. This may look odd when you place your models on the table, if shapes and forms blend with the surroundings. Of course, if you’re doing this intentionally, by all means consider a good camo scheme and add a splash of opposing color to keep things from looking too flat. This ability allows Drones to act as the target of shooting actions that would have otherwise targeted a nearby friendly non-Drone Pathfinder operative – another reason to keep Drones near your most important operatives. Markerlights

Enemy units beginning a charge move within 12″ of any Grav-Inhibitor Drones reduce their charge distance by D3″ An Armour-Piercing single target grenade that causes mortal wounds on critical hits. Photon Grenade The famous El'Myamoto, also called sub-commander Darkstrider, has never sought promotion beyond the role of Pathfinder. Instead, he has continued to hone his skills as a stealth specialist, contributing to victory after victory for the T'au Empire from the shadows. The home world of all T’au is the planet of “T’au”, which is the capital of the Tau empire. There are numerous T’au septs within the Tau empire ( source). Each T’au sept has its own sept symbol and color scheme. Here are a few of the official Tau sept color schemes:The Tau Empire are a relatively young civilization in the 40k universe, yet they have made their presence known via great technological achievements. On the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy, a they have emerged to challenge the might of the Imperium of Man and the other established races in the 41st millennium. They are a surprisingly advanced civilization that has organized itself around a single guiding principle known as "The Greater Good." By setting aside individualism to serve the needs of society as a whole, the Tau Empire has developed and expanded at an astounding rate. In just over 6,000 years, they evolved from savanna dwelling primitives to space-faring colonists. The Strategic Assets are also neat, and my favorite is probably Tidewall Barricade, if only because it encourages building custom barricades for your team. These improved barricades give you a 4+ invulnerable save and actually give you an interesting use for your Tidewall fortifications and the old 3rd party T’au Aegis Defence Line some players still have sitting around. T’au military strategy focuses around two main doctrines – Mont’ka, the Killing Blow, and Kauyon, the Patient Hunter – and the Shas’ui Pathfinder can use his Art of War ability to call on one of these for a powerful turn-long bonus. Awards you a Victory Point at the end of every Turning Point where at least half of the enemy operatives in killzone have one or more Markerlights on them. Patient Hunter

Tau personal names, unlike those of humans, usually mean things in their language, depending on the deeds in their lives. These names are apparently not assigned at birth, but descriptive of the individual as they distinguish themselves. Some examples are 'Kais' (Skillful), 'Vral' (Undercut), and 'Tsua'm' (Middle). [12] Example

Aside from blue, of the references I’ve discovered, brown is the color scheme that best catches my eye for Tau models in the 40k Universe. There’s something compelling about a well blended brown, beige, or sandy colored Tau model. You can work a lot of different special effects into a brown painted surface. The rest is decent. Climbing Equipment and Drone Repair Kit do exactly what you expect, and Target Analysis Optics makes it so that when you’re shooting you treat the target as having one more Markerlight than they have. This combos very, very well with High-Intensity Markerlights and Marker drones, and most teams are going to want 2-3 of these on their rail/ion rifle gunners. Tac OpsReliant Support: Each time you would use the Supporting Fire Tactical Ploy and select this operative, that Tactical Ploy costs 0 CP for that use. These are neat abilities, and of the two Mont’ka is likely the more valuable, giving your whole team free extra movement to get into position, drop a Markerlight, and shoot a target. Kauyon requires operatives in cover to really give you value and is much more situational. Most miniature painters may start out with bright orange, accented with other color hues, e.g., generally cool tones, such as purple or blue. But, I think as someone gets more experience with color theory and painting miniatures, they discover a ton of creative opportunities to explore different schemes with orange as the main paint color. If you like orange, try using a wash or glaze to speed up your painting. An airbrush helps with adding glow effects to your plasma weaponary. The Tau have three digits and a single opposable thumb on each hand. The main skeletal difference from humans is the bone structure of their lower legs, feet, and ankles. Tau have shorter libia and fibia equivalent bones, but their feet have elongated cuneiform bones and tali and two large central weight-bearing toes. The Tau have evolved to stand and move without using their heels. [17]

Mirage" Long Range Infiltration Unit – T'au Pathfinders are often dropped behind enemy lines on embattled worlds many solar days before a major T'au offensive as a "Mirage" Long Range Infiltration Unit. These night-time infiltration missions are highly risky, as the team is often completely isolated because it is forced to maintain communications silence for many days, deep in enemy territory. Only their powerful stealth fields allow them to remain undetected for so long as they identify the key objectives in the enemy defence lines. When the primary T'au assault begins, the main role of these teams is to use their Marker Lights to direct the devastating firepower of the main force against the chosen targets. A "Mirage" Long Range Infiltration Unit formation will usually consist of one to three Devilfish-mounted Pathfinder Teams, along with an attached Stealth Optimised Devilfish that carries a powerful stealth field generator which disguises nearby comrades within its radius of effect. All Devilfish in a "Mirage" formation will also have their Gun Drones replaced with Marker Drones, to better aid the Pathfinders in highlighting enemy targets. Martial Philosopher: When a friendly SHAS’UI PATHFINDER operative uses its Art of War ability, you can select which Art of War this operative benefits from (it can be a different Art of War to what other friendly operatives benefit from). Brown and its related shades and hues, e.g., bone, warm whites, are fairly easy to paint with a regular brush. Hobby acrylic paints in the brown range have good coverage and color density. They make great washes and glazes, if you’re looking to use more advanced blending and painting techniques.

Think about real-life construction equipment, e.g., bulldozers, excavators, which sit out in the weather. Their bright paint jobs take on a “used” worn look. Painting miniature with this appearance can really add realism to your Tau models. A matte kind of orange and purple mix that stands out on a tabletop Having spent their entire lives studying the T’au art of warfare, Shas’ui* Pathfinders are consummate commanders, able to deftly read the flow of battle and adapt their tactics on the fly.
