English whisky is a liquor made of cereal grains, malt and water, it consists of 3 variations of malt whisky or grain whisky and single cask and is produced in England. [1] English Whisky Our three main whisky expressions are Ex-Bourbon, Bordeaux, and Sherry. After being distilled in our Alembic copper still, our whiskies are aged in these unique casks to influence the flavour of the final spirits. Only one release to date, the eight-month-old Rebellion, but definitely one to watch for future bottlings.

In 2015, Anno Distillery collaborated with Westerham Brewery to craft the first whisky in Kent County. Westerham Brewery is in charge of the fermentation, while the Anno Distillery in Marden is for the distillation process. Being small batch releases means there will be variations in each bottling, but the distillery has a clear house style which underpins each release. Among its key characteristics is an initial fruitiness that conjures various sweet desserts, from banoffee pie to cherry tarts, and a shaving of chocolate orange. They also introduce peated malt into the mix – just enough to allow for a hint of smoke on the aroma and a drier, gently lingering aftertaste.The village of Hunmanby, sitting near the coastal town of Filey, is home to Yorkshire’s first-ever single malt whisky distillery. Growing out of a nearby brewery, the distillery is operated using only barley grown on the co-founders’ farm. They have filled over 2,000 casks since production began in mid-2016. However, the financially favorable Scotch production led many distilleries to move their businesses to Scotland. And at the early years of the 20th century, Lea Valley Distillery closed, marking the country’s century-long slumber in the whisky business. And in December 2009, The English Whisky Company started releasing impressive whiskies sourcing locally grown barley and other ingredients from within England. There has already been some high profile praise for what English whisky is doing in the industry, in terms of approach and quality. English distilleries are certainly not here to cut corners, they are here to put England right in the centre of the world of whisky, which for so many years has been dominated by Scotland, Ireland, the US, and more recently, Japan. Following the English gin renaissance, new figures from the HMRC show that the number of English distilleries have risen from 66 in 2014 to 228 by 2020. This is a tenfold increase from the 23 English distilleries in 2010. With the exciting developments of new whiskies entering the market, England has the potential to become a world-class whisky producer.
