Suzanna Chambers - Shot in the chest with a shotgun by Julia Gooders while trying to kill her with a knife after Suzanna received a phone call sounding like Julia, threatening to expose her and Julia received a phone call saying "You are next! I'm coming to get you!" sounding like Mr. Punch.

She said that she grew up with four red setters and a Labrador. She and DS Jamie Winter develop romantic feelings towards one another. At the end of series 19 she has taken a job in Montreal. [5] Dr. Fleur Perkins [ edit ] He was one of four people who had reportedly inherited a portion of his employer, Karl Wainwright's estate, the bulk of which was the local hotel where he was employed as the chef. One-quarter share would pass to Tristan—until the beneficiaries discovered they had been disinherited and the new will held by his lover's husband, Gregory Chambers. He volunteered to kill the man and retrieve the new will. He was proud of his skill with a bow and so dressed in a Rambo-like fashion and went into the wood to shoot Gregory. Once Gregory was dead, the four conspirators received threatening notes, 'Confess or die'. In fact, my only real problem, despite the solution actually being pretty ingenious, is the ending being written in a way that seemed to try too hard to make one feel sorry for someone who killed so many people. Giving the nature of the crimes, it did fail to do that. Evelyn gives Clarice a new Mr. Punch puppet. She wants Clarice to do the Punch and Judy show at the fete. Evelyn knows she is ready after seeing how she did at the Grenvilles party. "Put your trust in Mr. Punch and Mr. Punch will put his trust in you. It's all about trust," says Evelyn.

Detective Sergeant (later Inspector) Gavin Troy ( Daniel Casey) (main: series 1–7; guest: series 11)—DCI Barnaby's first assistant. Troy is bright and ambitious. Early in the series, Troy is also known for his careless driving, causing a number of near-accidents. He is less enlightened than his boss who, in the first episode, tells Troy that he is “as politically correct as a Nuremberg Rally.” For example, Troy is uncomfortable with gay people (he calls them “ass bandits”) and the elderly, whom he calls "wrinklies". The will of late hotelier Karl Wainright causes ructions amongst his staff, and soon a serial murderer begins hunting down the beneficiaries, dispatching them in increasingly gruesome and imaginative ways. Meanwhile, Barnaby and Troy discover the bizarre village tradition of exposing dark secrets - through cryptic Punch and Judy shows. In "Murder Of Innocence", it is revealed that Jones is in a relationship with firefighter Susie Bellingham. In the series 16 opener, "The Christmas Haunting", it is revealed that Jones has been promoted to Inspector and transferred to Brighton. A photo of Jones (alongside Kate Wilding, who also moved to Brighton) is shown in the series 18 opener "Habeas Corpus". DI Jones made a further appearance in episode 3 of series 19 "Last Man Out", in an undercover role - erroneously still listed in the credits as DS Ben Jones. In the end, he left Causton CID after a mini farewell party at John and Sarah Barnaby’s home at the end of episode 6 of series 15, "Schooled in Murder". Destroying Angel" starts with the murder of Gregory Chambers. Gregory was out in the woods collecting mushrooms when he falls to the ground after being shot with an bow and arrow. Karl Wainwright, owner of the local hotel, dies at the same time, and his funeral is being held. Karl Wainwright leaves his hotel and modest capital to be shared between Suzanna Chambers, Gregory Chambers, Julia Goodard and Tristan Goodfellow. Now that Gregory is dead, his shares will be taken over by his wife Suzanna. A severed hand is found it the woods, and it is later identified as Gregory's. Barnaby wife's says to him "Does her husband know she is a mass murderer?" Jane then says to Barnaby "you liked her didn't you? He then admits he "chief inspector liked a mass murderer."

Cully Barnaby (later Dixon) ( Laura Howard) (series 1–13)—Tom and Joyce's only child takes her first name from a village on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, where she was conceived during her parents' honeymoon. An inquisitive and bold young woman, she's inherited her parents' friendly attitudes and community spirit. Early in the series, she attended Cambridge University and dated a fellow drama student, called Nico ( Ed Waters). After that, she sometimes went out with and secretly flirted with DS Troy and DS Scott. She is an actress and frequently takes temporary jobs in the Midsomer area when "resting" between assignments. Like her mother, her tendency to do community work often leaves her personally involved with the murders that take place. She meets Simon Dixon ( Sam Hazeldine) in "The Axeman Cometh", becomes engaged to him in "Death In A Chocolate Box", and marries him in "Blood Wedding". The story of "Destroying Angel" is one of "Midsomer Murders" most compelling. Clever twists and turns keep coming and coming, the characters are well-written. I agree: David Hoskins's research and effort leaps from the script. The body count is also very high here and the murders are committed in brutal manners. The puppet show aspect of "Destroying Angel" is fun, but suitable chilling at times. Barnaby and Troy go to Evelyn's house and watch Clarice rehearsing. Barnaby asks if Gregory was planning to include anything at the Punch and Judy that would have resulted in someone trying to silence him. Evelyn can't think of anything. He tells her that Annie has been arrested. She can't believe it. Clarice drops a polaroid photo of a mushroom. Hotel owner Karl Wainwright has recently died, and his will divides his estate among four beneficiaries - staff members of the hotel, including the manager, cook, and accountant. However, on the day of his funeral, one of the beneficiaries—hotel manager and Punch-and-Judy showman, Gregory Chambers—goes missing. When a search for him is conducted, a severed hand is found in the woods; it proves to belong to him, which soon prompts a murder investigation. When DCI Barnaby and DS Troy investigate the matter in the village of Midsomer Magna, and determine what happened to Gregory, death threats are sent to the remaining beneficiaries, and soon enough, the hotel cook is fatally poisoned with a dangerous mushroom called Destroying Angel, while the accountant's husband is crushed under his own drinks cabinet. Barnaby soon begins to wonder if all the deaths are linked to the same killer, but when it turns out Gregory was in possession of an important document, he soon has to find out what it was, and who knew about it... Barnaby comes to the realization that the piece of paper was a will. There was another will. A newer one.At the Barnaby's Tom and Joyce are playing croquet. Joyce makes comments to throw Tom off his game repeatedly. Tom admits he did genuinely care for Evelyn even with her mass murders in consideration. On the road, someone puts down a piece of wood with nails in it across it. Clarice and Evelyn drive over it and their tires are punctured. They manage to wind up in a field. It was a deliberate attempt to kills Clarice and Evelyn. Barnaby asks to see the polaroid of the mushroom. Clarice tells him that Gregory used to try to teach her about the mushrooms. VKK Birgitte Poulsen ( Ann Eleonora Jørgensen) appears in "The Killings of Copenhagen" and "Death of the Small Coppers".

Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: In the end it's revealed that Annie Tyson's real father was Karl Wainwright. Funeral: People arrive for a funeral. Suzanna Chambers views the drive from the Easterly Grange Hotel. Tristan Goodfellow walks up. Suzanna says "Inside," to him. She and Tristan view the coffin of Karl Wainwright and then start making out. I have one flaw with this episode. Even though the ending is very well acted and written- the solution to this murder mystery is a great one. The fact that we should care about Evelyn Pope as a murderess I just could not get behind. She has done the deed in such disturbing manner, which I can not sympathize with.At the police station, Barnaby and Troy ask Annie who put the clothes on the fire. She says her father didn't do it. Annie says she was in the woods yesterday. She was supposed to meet Gregory and go to the funeral together. He told her after the will was read they would have a new life together. Kenneth Gooders to his wife after she finds out that their mushrooms are poisonous, "No one is trying to kill anyone." Then the drinks cabinet slowly falls on him. Kenneth Gooders - Crushed by a large drink cabinet while taking a drink after the screws that were pinning it to the wall were loosened. This was carried out by a builder at Evelyn's instruction.

Doctor Kam Karimore ( Manjinder Virk) (series 18–19)—Dr Kate Wilding's replacement as resident pathologist. DCI Barnaby and DS Troy investigate the murder of Gregory Chambers who was killed when out in the woods mushrooming. He was one of four people who had recently inherited a portion of his employer's estate, principally a local hotel. With his death, his one-quarter share now passes to his wife, Suzanna, who has been having an affair with Tristan Goodfellow. It would also appear that Gregory was having an affair with Annie Tyson, who is four months pregnant. When Tristan is poisoned with a type of mushroom known as Destroying Angel and the other heirs of the estate are put at risk, Barnaby looks to find a common connection. Elizabeth Spriggs and Richard Cant appeared in the pilot episode ("The Killings at Badger's Drift"), as mother and son Iris and Dennis Rainbird; they appeared again in "Dead Letters", this time as Iris' sister Ursula Gooding and her son Alistair. A builder comes to the police station and says Julia Gooders told him to unscrew the drinks cabinet from the wall. She said they were going to sell it at auction. Troy tells Barnaby that Julia went crazy overnight and has been sanctioned. Then Barnaby recalls when Evelyn told him how Clarice is a natural mimic. Troy comes in to tell Barnaby that they found the body. Weighed down and placed in a raft on the lake. Then an arrow is used to deflate the raft, which sinks.Detective Sergeant Charlie Nelson ( Gwilym Lee) (series 16–18)—When Jones was promoted, he was replaced by DS Charlie Nelson. Nelson was the first Sergeant to not serve alongside Tom Barnaby. He was a lodger at Kate's house. Nelson left the series after season 18. After "Garden of Death" was watchable, though not one of the best, I was really looking forward seeing "Destroying Angel". And I wasn't disappointed. "Destroying Angel" is easily one of the series's best and a great episode.
