Description

Qurrata ‘a’ayuni is an Arabic expression meaning to bring ‘coolness to the eye’ particularly from a spiritual perspective to bring calmness, joy, or happiness. Asking ALLAH SWT to grant us “coolness of the eyes” among our wives and through our children and future generations. To gift us as being good leader, a role model for the righteous. The surah paints a vivid picture of the dialogue between Musa AS and Fir’awn, starting with this question and answer: “Fir’awn said: And when My servants ask you, [O Mu’hammad], concerning ME – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon ME. Our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving Ready to appreciate (service)[35: 34] Rabbana la Ghafurun shakur رَبَّنَا لَغَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

Rabbana laa tuzigh quloobanaa ba’da iz hadaitanaa wa hab lanaa mil ladunka rahmah; innaka antal Wahhaab Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their forefathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day – You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment.” Our Lord! We believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger. Then write us down among those who bear witness Our Lord! (they say), Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure[3:8] Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaytana wa hab lana milladunka rahmah innaka antal Wahhab

Explanation of this Dua from Quran

Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost [7:23] Rabbanagh fir lanaa zunoobanaa wa israafanaa feee amirnaa wa sabbit aqdaamanaa wansurnaa ‘alal qawmil kaafireen The Messenger of ALLAH SWT ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “If anyone recited two verses from the last of Surah Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.” Dua praising ALLAH SWT and asking for His protection from Jahannam (fire). If we take the time to look at the world, we see how complex yet organized all of ALLAH’s creations are. We can see nothing was created erratically. There’s a greater purpose in everyone one of his creations. This supplication is to show gratitude, and appreciation for the beauty in life. The dua continues to ask ALLAH SWT for protection on the day of judgment and that we are saved from the punishment of the fire.

The good health of our family members. The increase of Halal earnings for the welfare of our people. The increase in virtuous deeds, etiquettes according to Sunnah towards others. Increase in beneficial knowledge and strength of faith. Guidance towards the straight and true path of ALLAH The Almighty (Ihdinas Siratal Mustaqeem). Dua to ask ALLAH for his mercy and calling upon by his rightful attribute of being Ar-Raheem meaning the most merciful.

Significance of The Recitation of this Dua

In this dua, Prophet Ibraheem AS asks ALLAH SWT to make ourselves and future generations good Muslims. More specifically, those who fulfill their second obligation of offering their daily prayer. The du’a concludes by asking ALLAH SWT to hear and accept our supplication. Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the chastisement of the fire - 2:201 This dua is comprehensive, the word hasanah in Arabic translates to “all that is good” and refers to all things both inwardly and outwardly. This includes but is not limited to: Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind together against a day about which there is no doubt; for ALLAH never fails in His promise.

If someone lives in a place where so many Haram activities take place and it is even risky for him to control himself. There is a chance of harm to his Deen. He feels that he may divert from the righteous path of ALLAH, Sirat-al-Mustaqeem. The above dua will definitely work Insha ALLAH. Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.”Rabbana anzil 'alaina ma'idatam minas-Samai tuknu lana 'idal li-awwa-lina wa aakhirna wa ayatam-minka war-zuqna wa anta Khayrul-Raziqeen Rabbana waj’alnaa muslimaini laka wa min zurriyyatinaaa ummatam muslimatal laka wa arinaa manaasikanaa wa tub ‘alainaa innaka antat Tawwaabur Raheem The last ayat of Surah Baqarah alone contains 3 powerful duas which can be recited together or independently. These last 2 ayat are among the most memorized verses of the Quran. The Prophet ﷺ used to say, “O ALLAH! Our Lord! Give us in this world that, which is good and in the Hereafter that, which is good and save us from the torment of the Fire.” (Surah Al-Baqarah Verse #201) This dua shows complete trust and reliance on ALLAH SWT. This dua reminds us that ALLAH is all-knowing and all-powerful. That nothing can be hidden from ALLAH SWT. He knows our every intent behind our every actions.
