Heart-flags of full member of the EBU (with some exceptions) countries that already participated in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC), Eurovision Young Dancers (EYD), Eurovision Young Musicians (EYM), Eurovision Dance Contest (EDC), Eurovision Choir (of the Year) (EC), and Eurovision Magic Circus Show (EMCS) at least once. The semi-finals were determined purely by public vote, but the Grand Final retains a jury plus public vote system. When the last song has played – Mae Muller’s I Wrote a Song – voting will open. After that there will be some music performances, and then we are into the nail-biting result process.

Liverpool has produced some of the world’s most famous and beloved songs in history: these Eurovision legends will all put their own spin on some classic hits.More than 100 flags and banners have had a unique make-over and have been turned into limited-edition memorabilia. Over the last few days, a lot of acts have now been confirmed to perform at both the two semi-finals and the big one, the Grand Final on May 13. The ‘Eurovision’ word mark is a custom-made font. No other characters other than those in the word ‘Eurovision’ are available. After the presentation of the scores from the juries, the televoting points from all participating countries, and for the first time the rest of the world, will be combined – providing one score for each song. These televoting results will then be announced by the hosts building towards a dramatic climax as the winner of Eurovision 2023 is announced. More details regarding the voting procedure can be found here. The final interval act "The Liverpool Songbook", is a celebration of the host city’s incredible contribution to the world of pop music. The BBC have brought together six iconic past Eurovision acts – Italy's Mahmood, Israel's Netta, Iceland's Daði Freyr, Sweden's Cornelia Jakobs, Duncan Laurence from the Netherlands – plus Liverpool's very own Sonia, celebrating 30 years since she came second at Eurovision in 1993.

Next year’s competition promises to be an extra special one and we’re working hard with the BBC right now to ensure that hundreds of millions of viewers will enjoy the best Eurovision Song Contest yet, with Ukraine at the heart of the event.’ Instead of Proxima Nova, Rubik may be used, which is freely available on Google Fonts. Instead of Gotham Bold, but only for headings in digital and print applications, Montserrat may be used, which is freely available on Google Fonts. Theme artwork Get ready to mark your Eurovision bingo cards! Of course, if you want to have a shot of drink each time you spot one of these things, you are welcome, but drinking is not compulsory. Some people – Terry Wogan chiefly – advised leaving off the booze until later in the show. You can just shout “Poe! Poe! Poe! Poe!” instead, or whatever you fancy. Here is what I have got on my list: Whether you're inspired to throw your very own party to celebrate the Grand Final of Europe's wor...During the Eurovision Flag Parade of all 26 Grand Finalists, everyone will be treated to a unique performance by some iconic past Ukrainian Eurovision contestants. The keen-eyed among you will spot that this means as we get closer to the top, songs in sixth, fifth, fourth place etc start leaping over the interim leader. But the interim leader is the last one to have their public points added, so you pretty much never know what the final result will be until there are only two or three more scores to be added. Rounding out the first semi final, we'll see a team-up from Ukranian singer Alyosha - who represented the country at Eurovision in 2010 - perform a duet with X Factor album and daughter of Liverpool Rebecca Fergusson for a cover of Duran Duran's Ordinary World. MORE: Rita Ora's Official Charts history in full Fans got their first taste after The Guide Liverpool uploaded a video of the hall being “dressed” with “what could be the Eurovision 2023 slogan and logo,” according to their reporter. Sam will be followed by last year's winner, Ukraine's Kalush Orchestra, while a Liverpool Songbook medley will help incorporate performances from some of the most popular recent Eurovision entries from around the continent, Italy's Mahmood, Sweden's Cornelia Jakobs and Israel's 2018 winner Netta...and Liverpool's own Sonia, who competed for the UK (and came in second!) in 1993. Any other usage of the logo, commercial or non-commercial, is strictly prohibited without explicit written permission from the European Broadcasting Union. For the first interval performance, the United Kingdom’s very own spaceman Sam Ryder will return to the Eurovision stage, before being followed by "The Liverpool Songbook"; a celebration of the Host City’s incredible contribution to the world of pop music. There are loads of famous faces from Eurovision past set to appear, and there will be celebrations of Liverpool’s musical heritage, and tributes to Ukraine, who would be hosting tonight’s event if it wasn’t for Russia’s invasion of their country. Public broadcasters from 37 countries will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest when the world’s biggest live music event is staged in Liverpool next May.

Looking for something different

During the show, UK audiences will be able to vote for who they want to see go through to the Grand Final. Mariya Yaremchuk, who represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014, leads a contemporary montage of some of the most well-known pieces of music from the country. As we travel through time, the piece ends with a stunning collaborative performance from rapper OTOY, 14-year-old Ukrainian Junior Eurovision representative Zlata Dziunka, and Mariya. Together, they show that for generations of Ukrainians, music is the light that overcomes darkness. The show will open with last year’s winners Kalush Orchestra and a powerful performance titled Voices of a New Generation. Kate Phillips, BBC’s Director of Unscripted, says: “What a way to bring in the winner of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. These live performances, with their twists on iconic Eurovision moments and countless creative collaborations, will ensure that we’re in for an utterly unforgettable Grand Final!”

The 2023 contest will be the first contest since 1979 in which the winning nation was unable to host the following contest. It is the sixth occasion overall on which a different country has hosted after the original host nation was unable to, following the Netherlands in 1960, France in 1963, Monaco in 1972, Luxembourg in 1974, Israel in 1980 and Ukraine in 2023. Performing in the Grand Final will be all the acts who successfully made it through their respective Semi-Finals along with the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy who make up the Big Five. Joining them will be last year’s winner Ukraine who also automatically qualify. The first group of countries who will compete for a place in Saturday’s Grand Final are: Azerbaijan, Croatia, Czechia, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland. The result of the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final will be decided by juries and viewers watching at home. Votes will come from a jury of five music professionals in each of the 37 countries taking part as well as from the audience, which for the first time will include non-competing ‘rest of the world’ countries.

Every performer at the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals 2023

The Grand Final for this year’s Contest, hosted in Liverpool on behalf of 2022 winners Ukraine, will open with last year’s winners Kalush Orchestra and a powerful performance titled ‘Voices of a New Generation’. Eurovision 2022 winners Kalush Orchestra say: “We've been looking forward to performing in Liverpool ever since it was announced as host last year. The city has a world-renowned musical heritage and we're delighted to finally be able to announce what an honour it will be for us to be there. Speaking about the collaboration with Julio, he adds: “Julio is a joy to work with; he’s creative with really innovative designs. We reached out to him because he's got phenomenal credentials, so that we can all make this a fantastic set design for Liverpool 2023.” We wanted to make it a fair process and thanks to our great partnership with the BBC, it made sense to make sure all the money raised goes to BBC Children in Need who fund fantastic charity work across the City Region.
