The Pro 3 3000 has a slightly revised design. It looks a little cleaner. Unlike the 2000, it does not have a rubber grip that runs the length of the brush handle. Instead, the only grip on the front is the panel that contains the power button. Both brushes come with thestandard ‘Daily Clean’ mode. They both then have a Sensitive mode. It is only the Pro 3 3000 that has the ‘Whitening’ mode.

The Genius X does command a premium for this technological upgrade and you get a little less in the box. To prolong the life of any brush giving it a rinse and a wipe down to remove grime that builds up is a must. The Vitality Plus works out marginally more cost effective as you get an extra brush head in the box, yet sells for the same price. Whilst the Genius is the premium brush it offers inferior battery life. Our testing has confirmed that the 9000 offers 12 days of usage time compared to the 18 days on the Smart 6. On the rear of the handle rather than raised plastic ridges, the 3000 has a more subtle dimpled surface. The Oral-B Vitality Pro has three brushing modes, while the Vitality 100 only offers a single mode. On the other hand , the Pro model doubles the autonomy of use of the 100 model, since it lasts 5 more days. Of course, it takes longer to recharge, but as the usual practice is to leave it in the plugged-in base, this would not be a problem. On the other hand, we like the design proposed by the Oral-B Vitality Pro better, whose handle is completely colored.

If you are travelling for a bit longer, but want some versatility in the way you use and charge the brush, the Genius X is worth considering. It has a 2 week battery life, comes with a premium travel case and can be charged inside the case too. The Pro 3 3000 is an equally good choice. The 3500 is a variant of the Pro 3 Technically they are the same.,The 3500 comes with the travel case included. They are usually about the same price making the 3500 a better buy. If you opt for the Vitality Plus variant, you will get 2 brush heads in the box. Sadly, the Plus tends to be a couple of pounds more expensive, so although it could appear better value, the saving for 1 extra head, is generally negligible. The Plus typically has either a blue or pink coloured grip.

Cross Action Bristles :

The Smart 5 5000 comes supplied with a more suitable holder too. It sits on a work surface rather than needing to be attached to a wall. It is our opinion is smarter and less unsightly. You just need to pop your phone in it, which takes a couple of seconds compared to the tens of seconds with the genius brush configuration. You phone then sits in portrait or landscape orientation and shows the on-screen timer.

The waterproof handle needs little in the way of maintenance, but to prolong the life of the brush you should make sure that it is given a good wipe every so often to remove any grime and dirt build-up and it will continue running well. A few weeks is not really long enough to say how well it will stand the test of time, but all Oral-B brushes go through a strict quality control programme. Putting this to shame is the 9000’s travel case which is heavier, bulkier but much more premium to look at and touch. It also has the ability to charge the brush in the case, by connecting the provided charging cable. If this is not enough, a USB cable can be connected to the case and charge a device like a smartphone. These extras can sound more appealing and useful than they really are. Few really get the benefit of them long term. As we told you at the beginning, the Vitality range is the most basic Oral-B range, and this means that neither of the two electric toothbrushes we are analyzing find great technological features. In fact, they do not have a pressure sensor, nor light indicators, nor an interactive screen. They also do not offer Bluetooth connectivity nor can they be synchronized with the Oral-B mobile app. Power the brush on and you have the choice of 3 cleaning modes. Daily Clean is your everyday option whilst sensitive suits those who want a more gentle brushing experience. You have the option of whitening mode too.

Smart pressure sensor – Change the pressure sensor light between red or green to show too much or the correct amount of pressure. It does too come with a premium travel case, similar to that of the Genius X, which allows the brush to be charged whilst inside. However, like the X, this requires a separate proprietary power adapter. This is a cycle that lasts for 20 seconds with 7300 oscillations and 30,000 pulsations and designed for as the name suggests, cleaning the tongue. What’s more, it delivers an excellent clean, with three modes – Sensitive, Daily Clean and Whitening – that take you all the way from a softer brush that’s easy on the gums to a more intense polish that should help get rid of staining. Battery life, meanwhile, is exceptional; you’ll easily get through two weeks of brushing and probably three without a recharge. It’s the king of sensibly priced brushes and one of the easiest recommendations in the Oral-B range.Within each range, there are usually a number of different models. The differences amongst these tend to be subtle. They are often technically the same, but one might come with a travel case whilst another doesn’t. The single cleaning mode is more than satisfactory and when used correctly provides a good clean of the teeth. So, both models come with a place to store brush heads, but the compartment with the 9000 is better than the stand offered with the Smart 6. Aside from this the two brushes feel the same in hand, weigh the same and have the same warranty, they both come with a charging stand and 1 brush head in the box. Pro 2 2000 vs Pro 3 3000 The Power2go charging case requires a proprietary power adapter and must be plugged in for the brush inside to charge. Other accessories
