Velazco, Chris (11 February 2020). "Samsung Galaxy S20 series hands-on: 5G across the board (sort of)". Engadget . Retrieved 11 February 2020.

The phone should stay in its new 120Hz, 1080p screen mode, though. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling noticeably smoother and improves the phone experience all around. If you're concerned about the 1080p resolution, I didn't find it to be a problem, but remember that the pixels get tighter as the screen size gets smaller, so this phone is a better bet to use that resolution than the Ultra is. This is the phone to get if you want to try out the 2020 tech that Samsung has to offer, but you don’t want a large phone, or a large dent in your wallet. You could go for the Ultra if you want more storage or a 108MP camera, and can stretch to the price tag, but for day-to-day use the S20 is going to be the best choice in the range for most people.Ismail, Adam (23 September 2020). "Samsung Galaxy S20 FE unveiled: Price, release date, specs and colors". Tom's Guide . Retrieved 23 September 2020. New here is Single Take mode, which cycles through all three rear cameras over the course of 10 seconds to capture a variety of photos and videos. It answers the ‘Should I take photos or a video?’ dilemma with ‘Why not take both?’

The Galaxy S20 Plus and Ultra both have a time of flight sensor that is missing from this phone. Even without it, the S20 is well capable of taking some fantastic-looking photos. The Snapdragon 865 delivers about 20-percent better CPU and GPU performance than last year's 855. You probably won't feel that. Rather, the new chipset is there to enable distinct new capabilities—that 120Hz screen, 8K video recording, the multi-frame camera night mode, and 5G, for example. It does so with aplomb. On our GFXBench graphics benchmarks, the phone was able to hit 60 or 120fps depending on screen mode, as long as the scene being rendered wasn't too strenuous. We have a full benchmark story looking at the Galaxy S20 Ultra; the S20+, as I said, is about the same. Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra: Price, Specs, Release Date". Wired. ISSN 1059-1028 . Retrieved 2020-02-11.It’s a positive result overall, allowing for 3x lossless zoom that’s the best we’ve seen on a smartphone so far. There’s also 30x digital zoom if you need it, and while this isn’t lossless we found it to be useful in some scenarios.

The S20+ receives a time-of-flight sensor (branded as "DepthVision Camera") in addition to the regular S20's cameras. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has a quadruple lens setup that supports 4X optical zoom and 100X digital zoom, with a 108-megapixel wide image sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor accompanied by a time-of-flight sensor. Both the wide-angle and telephoto sensors use pixel binning to output higher quality images at a standard resolution, with the wide-angle sensor using Nonacell technology which groups 3x3 pixels to capture more light. [39] The Galaxy S20's Ultra sibling has a bigger screen, a more impressive camera array and a more premium design - but it's also a lot more expensive. The base amount of RAM is 6GB with an additional 8GB option for the S20 FE, while the base amount is 8GB, with an additional 12GB option for the S20 & S20+ and a 16GB option for the S20 Ultra. 128GB of internal storage is standard with the S20 FE offering a 256GB option while the S20+ & S20 Ultra also offers 256GB and 512GB options, with up to 1TB of expansion via the microSD card slot. [2] Verizon's Galaxy S20 5G UW model is not equipped with a microSD slot. [2] ModelsThe device is built matching the needs of operators in the federal government and Department of Defense. The mobile is Commercial Solutions for Classified Program (CSfC) component approved, [59] with support to night vision, stealth mode, [61] drone feeds and laser range finders. [62] It can connect to tactical radios and mission systems, and runs applications like Battlefield assisted trauma distributed observation kit (BATDOK) etc. [63] External links [ edit ] A big upgrade for the Galaxy S20 is the maximum 120Hz refresh-rate display. This is double the rate at which the display refreshes on most phones, including previous Samsung devices, and what it means in practice is smoother scrolling and animations.
