Description

The nose of Espolon Reposado is delicate, presenting hints of sweet agave, zesty citrus, baking spices, and a gentle touch of alcohol. There's a pretty good reason you shouldn't drink Jose Cuervo Especial, the king of all "mixto" tequilas (per The Daily Meal). Mixtos are, essentially, all the cheapo tequilas that don't explicitly mention that they contain 100% agave. Legally, such concoctions are fully free to fly the tequila flag, as long as they contain the legal minimum amount of blue agave, which is as little as 51%. The rest tends to be a hodgepodge of cane sugar syrup and various additives that you might know under their common name, "tequila hangover." It offers a pleasant, caramel sweetness that is reminiscent of Irish Whiskey but with a warmer character. Per Esquire, Patron was in the frontlines when premium tequilas started fighting their way through the spirit's reputation as a cheap student hooch. With a combination of careful pricing and an extremely solid product line, it has managed to maintain its street cred through the years. Some praise the virtues of the complex Roca Patrón product line, and the brand has an ultra-special Gran Patrón line as well, but even if you don't want to break the bank, the baseline Silver, Reposado and Añejo variations all hold their own. Espolon Reposado undergoes a two-month aging process in oak barrels, infusing it with its distinct flavor.

Tequila Reposado - Espolòn Tequila

Though it doesn’t capture the refined subtleties of premium Reposados, its smooth and sweet character, evoking hints of an agave-infused Irish whiskey, ensures a pleasant drink.

Similar to gin and vodka, blanco tequila is often thought of as either a mixing tequila or as something to imbibe solely in the warmer months. If you want a slow sipper and enjoy aged spirits, you might want to take a step up — into the realm of reposado. For non tequila aficionados, we’re talking about bottles that have matured between two and twelve months in oak barrels. Espolon Reposado is carb-freebut should be consumed in moderation onketobecause it is alcoholic. Ingredients While it remains in good condition, it is recommended to consume the Tequila promptly once the liquid level reaches around 25% of the bottle. My education and training include a thorough knowledge of agave spirits creation from planting agaves to bottling, including distillation. Blanco is the least aged tequila, and anejo is the most. There’s even a sub-category known as extra anejo that’s aged even longer. The best reposado tequila is one that falls right in the middle – aged between two months and one year.

However much aging the tequila goes through, the time spent in barrels also gives it a nice golden hue, immediately setting it apart from the clear blanco tequila and the darker colors of an anejo. Hiatus Reposado. Slight pepperiness and nuttiness. It’s aged for six months in barrels that previously held American whiskey. It’s mellow, sweet, and filled with roasted agave, cinnamon sugar, vanilla, and oak. It’s a great, warming sipping tequila for the cold days ahead. Corralejo Reposado Corralejo The finish is pleasant and mildly warming, with a sweet, oaky aftertaste and a touch of peppery spice. Is it good?Partida Reposado Tequila is among the highest-rated reposados, earning the “Best Reposado Tequila” award at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. It’s aged for a solid six months in ex-bourbon oak barrels.

Espolon Reposado Tequila : The Whisky Exchange

Reposado means “rested” meaning that the dram was aged, but “barely aged” when compared with an Añejo Tequila that are aged between 1 and 3 years. How does it taste? Herradura is one of the harbingers of reposado, introducing their first rendition in 1974. The expression set the standard for the reposado category, with its enticing, aroma, and well-rounded, balanced palate.Espolon was developed by the late Cirilo Oropeza who spent a lifetime working for Jose Cuervo Tequila learning the ins and outs of the business.
