Can you pump and give him a bottle before bed rather than breast so you know he’s getting a nice big feed, then put him down to sleep? Plus you can build a bit of a controlled routine. Alison Scott-Wright is the UK’s leading baby, toddler and child sleep expert who also specialises in the management of ‘colic,’ acid reflux, feeding difficulties, dietary related intolerances and food allergies. Throughout, one-on-one coaching sessions are also available if extra reassurance is needed, and there is 24/7 chat support via the smartphone app which we found especially helpful. We used it regularly each day to ask questions, and sometimes at night time where advisors were able to login to a live-stream camera and offer on-the-spot advice based on their observations of Winnie’s behaviour. On a couple of occasions when Winnie’s crying escalated in the small hours and it became apparent my soothing techniques were floundering, I used the app to receive guidance on what to do to get her settled. The support helped our confidence enormously. And for when you're ready to move on to the next stage in sleep-filled parenting: The Sensational Toddler Sleep Plan!

You have to make a decision but it does get easier as you start weaning him on solids. Not right away but he will get into routine. fair point petsville, sorry you're struggling. My pointvis though she advocates doing it in week 2 with no warning of potential problems. there are no real advantages of bf in it just loads of mostly nonsense ff advantages. there's a little bit about supply and demand but no warning that giving formula will reduce I do agree that at the last pre-bed feed the baby is often too tired to take a proper feed. If I bf DS he'll just take a few oz and then drop off again, waking a few hrs later, whereas if I express and then bottle feed, he'll take 5oz and then sleep through. In the last month, we have had some success because my mother said that we shouldn't jump everytime she makes a sound but to give her a few minutes. And it's true, sometimes, she's just being moany so I leave her and a lot of the time she falls asleep. But I don't leave her to cry out (escalating crying) - there is always a reason - whether there is wind, teething, etc.

The book goes against the guidelines in parts. Alison justifies her advice well using an evidence based approach & parents must make decisions for themselves about what feels right for them (I.e having babies in the same room). How a remote programme transformed my baby’s nightmarish sleep cycle on whatsapp (opens in a new window) The book holds some quite clear and practical advice on how to help your baby (and, as a consequence, you) sleep better at night. Some of the advice which suggests that you let your baby cry for a minute or so is controversial, contested, and difficult for a caring parent to enforce. But you can just skip those bits - there are plenty of helpful tips that do not rely on this method. Solutions to common issues and problems as well as in-depth explanations on how to cope with reflux and dietary-related colic. Can you get a TV in your bedroom? Not the perfect soloution but you could both watch it as you feed the baby. The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan has your baby of 8-12 weeks old naturally sleeping 12-hours through the night. That’s a natural necessity of sleep; the day and night split, sun and moonlight. Your DS might surprise you and take milk from somebody else when you are not there. Might. No guaratees. Are there ever any?? Is that just a habit? If so, was the habit driven by an underlying digestive issue, like reflux, that your baby may have had? That’s the big question. The best thing that worked for me was that I stopped bringing her onto the bed to feed her as she used to fall asleep and then would be annoyed when she woke up in her cot. I now cradle her (more tiring for me but it has halved wake ups as I think it keeps her more awake) while I feed her and then she is kinda half asleep/almost asleep when I put her down. I have also found that she tends to talk about formula feeds rather than BF although there is a bit in there about BF. Just wondering if any BF mothers like myself have successfully used her advice.

This books now allows our little one to enjoy her sleep . . . She is a happy content smiley baby now and so are mummy and daddy!' A follow-up guide, helping parents to handle sleep issues in toddlers and children aged over twelve months. This book has some really good general information relating to sleep and feeding. At this point I will not be trying the plan as part of it entails using a bottle and watering down feeds and I am fully breastfeeding.

Summary

Tells mothers to water down an 8 week old baby’s feeds at night so that by the end of the week they are just drinking water. I wonder whether books discussing infant feeding should come under some regulation for their content and advice. Solutions to common issues and problems , as well as in-depth explanations on how to cope with reflux and dietary related colic. I know a lot of people think that if you’ve got a reflux baby, feed them ‘little and often and that’ll resolve those things’ - it actually doesn’t, it makes it worse. This is because it doesn’t fall in line with the natural workings of our digestive system and the digestive system of any baby.
