Mulching can be a good option for those that want to fertilize their lawns organically. But grass clippings scattered over a lawn tend to make it look messy. And if you have a roller, you will want to have the lawn as clipping-free as you can get it to enhance the striping effect. For this reason mulching and rear rollers do not normally go well together. It is powered by a generous 40V lithium-ion battery which will give you all the time you need to get the job done in one sitting.

Being able to adjust the height of your mower is essential in keeping your lawn healthy. During the summer months, it pays to cut the lawn a little shorter whereas the colder weather will require a slightly longer cut. The 11kg 340R has a 1400-watt motor, which for most owners, is going to be more than enough power for small to medium sized lawns. Though, at the time of writing, the 380R is the better deal as it costs less than the 340R. And the extra width and power of the 380R means that you will be flying through the grass that much faster. If you love the look of a striped lawn then the addition of the rear roller makes this a very viable option. What’s more, for anyone who needs something compact, easy to store and easy to carry will find this an absolute delight. If your shed isn’t the largest in the world then this space-saving machine is the perfect addition to your garden tool kit. All EasiStore electric corded lawn mowers can vary in cutting height, from 20mm up to 60mm. Both the 340R and the 380R have a central height adjustment lever, which changes the height by 10mm at a time.

OK, let’s get started…

With the Flymo EasiMow 340R, you get a 35 litre grass box. That’s just about spot on for a mower of this size so no complaints there. This is a plastic grass box though so do keep in mind that it might be harder to store than a fabric one. There is no vertical storage with this model, unlike the Flymo EasiStore range of models. Height Adjustment As expected, the fact that the EasiStore 340R takes so little space when stored seems to impress customers the most. They love how the mower fits nicely in their smaller sheds.

The handlebar will fold into two — but the real practicality comes when the machine is stood upright for storage, and the grass box is hanging from it. There are two options for the EasiStore range. You can either get the electric corded version, which is available across the range of blade sizes, from 30 centimetres to 38 centimetres. Or the cordless versions, which applies to the smaller 300R and 340R models. EasiStore’s roller is small, but the placement means it puts down a lot of pressure on the grass. The roller also helps the operator cut over the boundaries of the grass and an island garden bed without scalping the grass. But the features of the handle don’t stop there. Flymo has thought of everything and when it comes to storing this mower, the foldable handle will mean that it can fit into even the tiniest storage space. Added to this, this mower can also be stored in a vertical position and allows the grass collection box to be hung on the stored mower.

With the Flymo EasiStore range, it is suitable for homeowners with the roller being a higher priority over the mulching function — and for this size of the mower, it is the choice you will have to make. Flymo likes to come out with mowers that have that one feature you have always sought after. The roller is the most important feature on this machine, and even the entry-level model, the 300R has one. For the price, it is one of the least expensive electric mowers with a roller that you can find currently on the market. The Flymo EasiMow 340R runs on a 1400 watt motor. This is a nice amount of power for an electric mower of this size, so you can feel confident that it’ll get the job done efficiently.

The throttle controls are a curved plastic. This simple throttle makes operating the machine more comfortable for both right and left-handed users.

There is a safety button on the handlebar, which the operator needs to depress to release the throttle grips. The EasiStore range does not have a mulching blade, and neither does it have a mulching plug. Mulching is good if you worry about binning the grass clippings, or local town management has made it costly to do so. A lot of people are put off the idea of buying a corded mower because they worry that it’ll limit their reach. Short of using an extension cable, a lot of mowers won’t get to every corner of your garden. However, since the Flymo EasiMow 340R is fitted with a standard 10 metre power cable you’ll be able to reach more of your garden. Both the 340R and the 380R have central height adjustment levers with 5 height settings. But, the 300R has 3 settings, and you need to add or remove spacers to the blade each time you want to change the cutting height (for me this is a limitation and therefore I would opt for one of the larger models).
