The Drukhari already love to raid voidcraft for business and pleasure, and the Arks of Omen have only spilled blood in the water. A Succubus leads 20 Wyches in Boarding Patrol: Drukhari, accompanied by a band of five sinister Incubi. Boarding Patrol: Grey Knights Overall, the novel was a blast. The action was amazing, most of the main characters were extremely well done while most of the supporting characters and secondary characters ranged from one sided to some of my favourite. The Chaos depiction and characters were really what made the novel for me though. Though that might be my bias for all things Chaotic when it comes to Warhammer! Finally, Antwyr managed to manipulate the lord governor, Otto Glas, into seizing hold of the sword. Possessing the governor within moments, Antwyr sliced open Gavallan's throat, killing him.

As Psykers, the Purgation Squad is able to take advantage of several powers to further enhance their effectiveness. Few things are as terrifying in a confined space as a Phoenix Lord. Boarding Patrol: Drukhari The 666th chapter’s most elite heavy infantry, Grey Knights Paladins are made up of the most senior, battle-hardened veterans in each Brotherhood. Their highly decorated Terminator plate bears heraldry, honours, and keepsakes of their great feats and glories – for each one of them has slain a greater daemon (or more).The entire Grey Knights army feels much stronger in this codex. As befitting such an unusually powerful fighting force, they’ve received a number of improvements across the board. If you already read about their army-wide bonuses, you’ll know most units get an extra Wound to keep up with other Space Marines in the current crop of codexes. Unlike those other Adeptus Astartes, however, the Grey Knights can counter mortal wounds.

Here are their points values, including the buildable variants (though do note I have omitted the Purgation Squad, as they cannot be played in Boarding Actions). Intensely psychological, character-driven story arcs of certain persons show them falling victim to their own ambitions – which are immediately and masterfully exploited by the ever-watchful dark gods. For no matter how pure and virtuous one may come across, true evil always can (and often does) find the easiest way to one’s heart... The actual portrayal of the daemonic incursion is different than, say, in Guy Haley’s Shadowsword but still rather vivid, as is the two feuding Chaos gods’ contest for a single human soul (an ideal example thereof being Commander Vendruhn). Descriptions of chaotic violations to the Sandavan cities are extravagant to the point of downright opulence, yet the human spirit’s path to damnation is rendered highly believably, with the seduction of Imperial citizens occurring deceptively slowly yet (almost always) inexorably. Purifiers serve as the spiritual heart of the Grey Knights and are an anathema to Warp spawn with the dark taint of these creatures withering at the touch of a Purifier. This gift means that they form their own small yet entirely unique Brotherhood.

The Grey Knights are classic sculpts granted, but are really showing their age, and it doesn’t help that 95% of the box is outdated like that. It’s the big heads that get me – it really is a screenshot from a bygone era. I’d love to see the Grey Knight range get the refresh they deserve so they can look eye to eye with the heretics and daemons they were engineered to hunt. But let’s look at we’ve got. It’s a very shooty list with melee capabilities – so these guys will hold their own at range and in close quarters. Terminators, being Terminators, are tough with 5+ invulnerable saves and choice of differing melee weapons and guns – which the Strike Squad and the other variants also get to dabble with. Castellan Crowe of the Grey Knights bears a heavy burden – to carry the cursed Blade of Antwyr, a weapon imbued with dark power. For the first time, discover the origins of this dread task and why only Crowe can be the one to carry it out. Daemons are creatures of vindictive hatred, and their endless schemes are spun out over eternity as they fight for the souls of mortals. Antwyr is an ancient being, and no stranger to the servants of the Dark Gods, having crossed them many times in its long existence.

Grey Knights Strike Squads

Armed, as standard, with a wrist-mounted Storm Bolter and a Nemesis Force Sword– both of which any battle-line Grey Knight can imbue with additional psychic power to make every hit land like an artillery shell – each Strike Marine also has his own personal symbology, heraldry, and custom wargear. And don’t forget that even units of this calibre are also Psykers, enhancing their power even further. Dreadknights are a huge threat to nearly everything on the table, and they’re sure to draw a lot of fire from your opponent, which takes some of the heat off your Infantry and other war machines. So while more new minis for them would be nice, we wouldn’t count on it. It seems much more likely the Thousand Sons get a full new set of minis, along with the Infernal Master.
