Description

A more traditional Necron feel, this army brings as many guns as it can. You can fill out your core with Necron Warriors with a mix of weapons–Gauss Reapers on Necron Warriors are a great weapon, and this dynasty’s trait helps by enhancing its range by 25%. It’s a valid tactic just about anywhere, but Mephrit makes it especially dangerous: a character with the Veil of Darkness can jump itself and 20 Reaper Warriors into position and light up most targets, boosted by stratagems to increase wounds (via Disintegration Capacitors) and/or inflict mortal wounds (via Talent for Annihilation) if need be. The increased range means units that deny “deep strike” mechanics within 12″ won’t stop you. Another option is Tomb Blades, which offer tough mobile shooting and can also be great objective grabbers/harassers, especially since they don’t crumble to dust like Scarabs tend to. Next up, there are two Xenos boxes, with Tyranids and Orks getting a box. The Ork box will focus on Beast Snaggas, while the Tyranid box will be focused on the Norn Emissary and other new units. It’s hard enough to be stealthy when you’re a nine-foot tall super soldier, but how about the challenge of going covert with not one but two Invictor Tactical Warsuits? If anyone would know how to pull that off, it’s Raven Guard Chapter Master Kayvaan Shrike, who also leads a squad of Reivers, a trio of Eliminators, and a Phobos-armoured Librarian for a total of 17 miniatures ready for an ambush. Adeptus Mechanicus – Technoarcheologist For the JA Intercessors I only expect 5x per box, same as the Heavy Intercessors, since the discount doesn’t add otherwise but maybe there are more ATVs/Outriders in the box, Valrak only specified the 15x Jump Assault Intercessors) Personally I was looking for exactly this combination of stuff, for various reasons that include being stupid enough to own not one but two Marine armies and this neatly covering things I needed for both, but if you don’t have the particular brainworms I do then you might find some of this box a bit extraneous. If you’re newer to Marines and don’t already have an Impulsor or many Phobos guys (who legitimately are great in 9th edition) then this is still potentially a good buy, and Invictors aren’t horrible in-game and are fun kits so if you’re not looking to be hyper-competitive they’re a cool toy and will do just fine on the table. Necrons – Eradication Legion

On the one hand, the Chaos Marines box is the single lowest savings on offer. On the other, it has the most solid set of units in terms of bread and butter stuff that you’re likely going to want all of. It’s a bit hard to make a judgment on Chaos right now – vanilla CSM are, broadly, crap – but if you were looking for a starter Chaos force, you can’t really go wrong with a box of CSM, a box of Terminators, a box of Havocs, and a Chaos Lord, and a daemon engine. One, or even two, of these is a great way to get moving on a Chaos army and contentedly paint away in anticipation of a new codex which will hopefully do for this collection of units what the recent Marine codex did for their loyalist equivalents. T’au Empire – Starpulse Cadre There’s nothing worse than being woken up from your nap aeons earlier than planned, which is a fact of (synthetic) life for Necrons across the galaxy. This Battleforce is especially cranky about it, and wants to put its opponents to bed with esoteric guns wielded by Lokhust Heavy Destroyers and Canoptek Doomstalkers, and the razor-sharp claws of the Ophydian Destroyers and Flayed Ones. The Warhammer Vault is also getting spooky as the lore from Malign Portents is conjured into digital format, alongside White Dwarf 467, from August this year which goes deep on the design of Dominion, as well as rules for frostbitten battles between Hive Fleet Leviathan and the Dark Krakens in Flashpoint Octarius. Sagitaurs have been hard to get, Land Fortresses are great, and Hearthguard is probably the best unit in the army, so this is a fantastic box! Five speedy Pteraxii, five stealthy Ruststalkers, and three Serberys Raiders make up the core of this battleforce, supported by the Ironstrider Ballistarii’s powerful cognis lascannons. Behind them marches a unit of 10 Skitarii Rangers and their Tech-priest Manipulus commander, ready to examine whatever it is that the Talon has recovered. This box is pretty cool if you want Angron! However, if you already grabbed Angron, this box will probably be a pass. So, it may be more geared toward people starting a new army. Just remember, though, these are rumors, so don’t get too hyped or mad about the contents. However, if these are right, each army gets a pretty themed box which is fun for both new collectors and people just looking to add some juice to their army. RUMORS: Games Workshop Warhammer 40k & AoS Christmas Battleforces Boxes For 2023!

This is a very basic intro modelling set, but offers a bundle of some test models and a good spread of paints for the “standard” Necron color scheme. With 6 paint colors, 3 models, and a brush, this set works out to about the same amount as if you bought them on their own, although the Agrax Earthshade and Tesseract Glow containers are smaller than the retail versions which are more expensive so separately you’d get slightly more paint for slightly more money. All six of these battleforces are coming this December, so stay tuned to Warhammer Community for more details. “ Warhammer Community The Christmas Battleforces are here, accompanied by a Rohan Stronghold in a box, and one very swish looking Praetor for The Horus Heresy. November 20th 2021 – Unlikely, it’s too soon and we know we still have Shadow Throne coming this year. The Plaguefester Warband is the definitive image of an unstoppable Death Guard army, with a Champion and Icon Bearer leading seven Plague Marines and three Deathshroud Terminators. Three Myphitic Blight-haulers and a Plagueburst Crawler cover their march, crushing resistance with the hellish firepower these war engines are feared for.If you like eccentric mechanical limbs, gosh does the Adeptus Mechanicus have a treat for you with not one or two, but 15 weird and wonderful modes of ambulation or flight! There’s also a unit of Skitarii and a powerful Tech-priest to lead this gaggle of whirring, clunking, zapping warriors. Dis iZ a nOiCE BoX! It’s been heavy on the Ork release lately and here we have an equally impressive end of year reward. Appearing to be one of the highest value sets on this list. the set contains a Ton of Boyz, Gretchin and some standout vehicles. This is one spot where the Necrons really shine at this point, as they are the premier “enemy” faction of 9th Edition–there are numerous “inexpensive” ways to start collecting your army that have significant cost savings and fill in important parts of most armies. If you have the option, it’s probably best to start collecting with a friend who is interested in some flavor of Space Marine because the starter sets come with Necrons and Space Marines (and simple playboard/terrain) and do a decent job of providing some introductory rules and examples for new players.

One of the newer armies to come out, the Lumineth set is a great way to expand a force. unfortunately however many of these models don;t have much in the way of customisation options. Also, the new Wrath & Glory box seems to also be a potential winner for hobby dollars, but the release date is currently unknown. Battleforce Value & Breakdown This box has a lot of leftovers (sort of) from the Leviathan box, but if you want a Norn Emissary and a Winged Hive Tyrant, this will probably save you a bunch of money.Let me know what date you think in the comments, we’ll update you when we know more. Warhammer AoS 2021 Battleforce Boxes – Price & Savings From one group of self-involved egotists to another, it’s the pointy-helmed Aelves of Hysh. This insufferably well-oiled Vanari Shining Host focuses on the Tyrionic half of the Realm-lords’ martial forces, bringing 23 models of archers, spearmen, and cavalry to bear with gleaming precision. Anyone who had nuns in big metal jumpsuits on their Christmas bingo card is going to be rubbing their hands with glee at the Sanctorum Guard battleforce, which contains 23 saintly miniatures. Morven Vahl spearheads a cohort of six Paragon Warsuits, while a complement of Celestian Sacresants and a Battle Sister squad give you more zealots than you can shake a brazier at. Battleforce: Adeptus Custodes – Watchers of The Gate

You’ve got your hands on some core characters and troops, now where do you go? Necrons have a number of different angles to play and some of them are quite competitive. Let’s discuss a couple possible options among many that are available and how you might branch into them. Nephrekh: Models have a small invulnerable save and can translocate (teleport) long distances through objects and terrain (this gives up shooting)

Slaves to Darkness: Godsworn Warband

Overwhelm your opponent with the explosive might of the Space Marines. This is a Battleforce that hits hard and fast thanks to a Storm Speeder and 29 Primaris Space Marines, including some fairly chunky Gravis-armoured battle brothers. Next week the Warhammer Twitch channel will host The US Open 2021 Finale, which is taking place in Texas on the 4th and 5th of December. This even brings the series to an exhilarating finale, and you’ll be able to watch the action live, with commentary. The quest to save Ulfenkarn comes to an end with the final expansion for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. Nightwars will bring your heroes’ gruelling journey to a close with new quests, new enemies, and new ways to use your Soulblight Gravelords collection. You’ll need the previous expansion, and the required miniatures to play.
