Hmmm, I don't know about the barrel finial, but it looks like the cap finial is held in place by a screw and (4.5mm 5.0mm diameter ?) nut. However, the inner cap liner is in the way of using a tool to immobilise the nut, so must be pulled out before the nut can be accessed to remove the cap finial and swap them around between pens; and I don't have such a tool.How well are the Jinhao 82 at sealing? Has anyone in a dry climate had one inked long enough to comment on their resistance to drying out? Even though they are exactly the same shape and size, the main difference between the Professional Gear Slim and the Lecoule is that the former has a metal connector joining the grip section and the barrel, whereas the latter is plastic and thus significantly lighter in the pen's total weight.

How to tell if a pen is wet or dry. How to remedy with out doing things to the pen (using dry or wet inks). It can be flat top or rounded or pointed , it can be straight or tapered straight or tapering curved , it can be long or short , it can sometimes had changing profile instead of one continuous curve , it can ... The nib is very very polished and shiny, which is quite good looking in the 2-tone colour. I meant the nib face polish here. It would be unfortunate to see a beautiful pen damaged or dissolved by cleaning with the wrong supplies (especially since you mentioned that your friend was a "clean-freak". I know that this is a bit of a zombie post, but I would recommend adding something about how different cleaning materials might react with different pen materials (ammonia, isopropol alcohol, etc).
