The Master Blender describes the blend as “what the Angels have left behind,” as he combines the last of the aged blends from the barrels. While it is usually the number 1 premium spirit in Greece, not as many locals drink it as they did in the past. HOW IS METAXA MADE?

The white in the design represents Cycladic architecture, the blue for the Aegean Sea, and the bright gold for the sun. The exact amount of passion went into blending the Metaxa 12 Stars to interpret the Greek culture with this one-of-a-kind dark amber spirit. Ingredients to-15-year double pots stilled brandies, aromatic Muscat wine, rose petals, and Mediterranean herbs. Taste notes Fragrant botanicals of Mediterranean herbs and rose petals also make their way onto Metaxa 5 Stars. The blend is then aged for a further year in oak barrels, cold-filtered and bottled, ready to delight its new owner. Ingredients As a brandy, Metaxa combines local Greek wines from islands in the Aegean Sea with wine distillates that have been aging for as long as 80 years in some types. This mix of old and new wines brings together the aged aroma and the freshness of newer wine to make a refreshing blend that is bottled and sold. The second process that gives this brandy its unique taste is the mix of local herbs that are put in to add aroma and herbal flavors.
