Jasmine Trivia 101: Whatever this lady writes, I read it as soon as it releases even at the expense of my job. Colleen Hoover is my "drop everything right now to read" author and even if I didn't love Ugly Love, my faith in this author never wavers. So imagine my surprise when this was dropped out of nowhere and when I heard it featured my most fav character from Maybe Someday, EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS PUT ON HOLD AND I DO A HAPPY DANCE. I know, I know!!! I’m the last person to finally read this one. I read Maybe Someday in 2013 and MAYBE NOT was released in 2014 and here it is almost 2017 and I’m finally reading this one. *hangs head in shame*

Ya conocíamos a Warren y Bridgette desde Maybe Someday, pero aquí se abunda mucho en cosas que no teníamos muchos detalles. I listened to the audio version. There are few odd spots where the narrator's voice changes. Like they had a voice over. It only happens a couple times so it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the story. I don't want you to change Bridgette. I'm not in love with who you could be, or who you used to be, or who the world thinks you should be. I'm in love with you. Right now. Just like this."

Hardcover Books

Maybe Not starts prior to the beginning of Maybe Someday, when Warren and Ridge get a new roommate who’s not exactly the nicest of people. Bridgette is mean and gives no f***s whatsoever, and Warren is reluctantly attracted and intrigued. This book was horrific. I don't mean that as a slam, I mean that I was genuinely horrified by the content of this book. The whole first half of the book (which was all I could get through, and believe me, I really was trying to finish it) was nothing but sex. But that's not even what really bothers me...what bothers me is that the scenes are full of domination and attempting to make violence "sexy". THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF RAPE CULTURE. In fact, one sex scene in this book IS a rape scene, even though it isn't presented that way. When you are doing something sexually to a person and they tell you to stop multiple times, YOU STOP. 100 percent, no questions asked. Why the hell does this even have to be explained right now? I'm not saying this author wrote these scenes with the intention of it being rape or having the scenes encourage rape culture...I know that she didn't. However, that's the problem. The problem is that people don't even realize it's a problem, and that's the worst thing about it. People aren't even aware of rape culture and what it represents. I loved all of his inner monologues and I'm glad that we learn why he was always watching porn, because I thought that was so odd when reading the previous book. The reason is pretty hysterical. I feel like I’m two different people right now. I’m a guy who finds his new roommate insanely attractive, but I’m also a guy who can’t stand to be around his bitchy new roommate.” I have to admit that it made me laugh & I was in awe a couple of times. Warren is a really entertaining character and his banter with Bridgette was gold! I was so anticipating to read about their hot angry-sexy moments, because I was expecting them, judging always by their apparent relationship in Maybe Someday.

A lot times a bitchy heroine can get annoying, but this is short and Bridgette just kept growing on me. Yes, Bridgette is a bitch and comes off a little harsh, and Warren comes off like an egoistical asshole…hey it works! Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not. This mystery romance follows a lifelong couple, Charlie and Silas, who have been in love basically since birth but wake up one day with absolutely no memory of each other. Together, they must work to unravel the truth of what happened to them and why they fell in love in the first place. Just say it. You've never let anyone close enough to where their absence could hurt you. But it would hurt if I left you, so you hurt me first. You did. Seeing you walk through that door with him hurt like hell. But I'm not going anywhere, Bridgette, and I'm not interested in anyone else.'I stand up and attempt to open my eyes, but they’re stinging too badly for them to be of any use. It’s the oldest prank in the book, and I can’t believe I fell for it. Again. Brennan faces me and calmly holds up a finger. “I told you earlier, it’s not like that. We aren’t together and we never will be together. But she’s important to me and she’s in a tough spot and we’re going to help her, okay?” He takes a bottle of water out of the fridge and opens the cap. “It won’t be that bad. She’s in school and works full-time, so she’ll hardly ever be here. You won’t even notice.” Shit, she hits hard. I still can’t really see her, but I can recognize fists when they’re flying at me. I grab both of her wrists to keep her from assaulting me even more.

Ridge makes the sign for Brennan’s name. “That’s all him. I don’t think he would have accepted no for an answer.” I don’t know why Ridge thought it would be a good idea to rent a four-bedroom apartment. Even though one of the bedrooms is empty, that’s still two people too many. Especially when guests spend the night and don’t know about the designated bathrooms. This was a fun, sexy surprise treat from Colleen Hoover giving fans of Maybe Someday a look into the love, pranks, and general hilarity of Warren’s life as he falls for the last girl he ever thought he could love.

It's probably the best kiss I've ever experienced with her, because it's the first kiss with actual emotions behind it." Verity follows a struggling writer who accepts an unusual gig: to live in the home of a bestselling author and her husband, tasked with finishing that author's outstanding novels because the famous writer is injured and unable to write. As she rifles through Verity’s office, Lowen Ashleigh finds an unfinished autobiography that reveals a dark family secret. I press my lips to hers with such delicacy; I want her to feel everything she's ever deserved to feel at the hands of someone else. She deserves to feel beautiful. She deserves to feel important. She deserves to feel cared for. She deserves to feel respected. She deserves to feel like there's at least one other person in this world who accepts her for exactly who she is. This novel follows the little-bit-strange Voss family, who live in a repurposed church, through the eyes of Merit Voss, the youngest Voss child. Her mother, having recovered from cancer, lives in the basement while her father lives upstairs with his new wife, her mother’s former nurse. When Merit meets the witty Sagan at an antique shop, she is pushed to reveal her family’s dark secrets and choose herself.

I don’t want you to change, Bridgette. I’m not in love with who you could be, or who you used to be, or who the world says you should be. I’m in love with you. Right now. Just like this.” Brennan holds up a finger and turns to face me. “Actually,” he says, “this is a shared bathroom. With that bedroom.” He points to the door that leads to the other bedroom. “And that bedroom now belongs to…” He points to the girl. “Bridgette. Your new roommate.”

Brennan glares at me. “She’s not an opportunist, Warren. Trust me on that. And hit on her if you want, I couldn’t care less.” All Warren and Bridgette do is fight, prank, and insult each other, which makes for some lovely sexual tension.
