From what I can tell, the XR batteries are supposed to last longer (even those it has the same 4.0ah rating?), and the DCB240 is more compact. Is there something I'm missing? If both sections of the LED bar are lit up then you have a problem with your battery or charger. It is most likely overheating so simply remove it from the charger and let it cool before attempting to charge it again.
