Description

The illustrations by Barbara McClintock are just darling and depict the gingerbread man wearing a snappy blue jacket, hat, and yellow pants. Because these requests require specialist input, they do take longer than other requests, but we will be back in touch if we can provide this :) In the meantime we have a French version of this Powerpoint which you might like: https://www.

and promptly bit off the end of the monkey’s tail, and Jocko quickly jumped off again, chattering his indignation. For next week's books, I will probably stay within the fairy tale/folk tale genre since we will still be discussing that topic in class.

Barbara McClintock's illustrations are always wonderful and Jim Aylesworth has written an interesting version of the story. In the 1890 version by Joseph Jacobs, the hero was Johnny-Cake, but we have changed him to the more familiar Gingerbread Man.Said they, and so they threw down their picks and ran after him, but couldn’t catch up with him, and soon they had to sit down by the roadside to rest. But this gingerbread man runs away, while he is running away, he runs from a butcher, a cow, and a sow. If I tried cooking a giant cookie in our old stove, I'm sure there would be at least a few burnt spots on the edges. He trotted as fast as his legs could carry him after the gingerbread man, who never stopped to look behind him. This version of the classic story uses new words to describe every situation in which the Gingerbread Man finds himself.

The book has a lot of repetition of “run run as fast as you can, can’t catch me I’m the gingerbread man. Web icon An illustration of a computer application window Wayback Machine Texts icon An illustration of an open book.
