I fell in love with the characters as we follow them from their playground pact to their adult lives and as we became entwined in all their adventures along the way. Brilliant personalities shone through for Lana, Judith and Catrin and their extended families as they grew.

Spanning decades from the 1980s to the present day, we first meet Lana, Judith and Catrin when they are about to embark on their first holiday abroad. They’ve eschewed the usual haunts and have decided to island hop around Greece, taking in a trip to Cyprus too to visit the town where Judith’s beloved step father was raised. In the end almost all these disagreements come down to whether one is an adherent of prescriptive or descriptive grammar Filled with a multitude of believable characters this novel effortlessly spans the decades, filled with tragedy and humour, love and loss. I couldn't put it down and had to read the last bit with my Kindle plugged into my laptop because I'd drained the battery.I think that there is a better book in here that is screaming to get out. I don’t mean that to sound cruel but at times it felt a little clunky at the expense of the character development. One character in particular was very similar to a character in Never Greener for example which felt a little jarring especially as I loved the characterisation in her first book. Lana, Judith and Catrin live in a small Welsh town and they are the best of friends. When they were eight years old, they swore an oath on a Curly Wurly wrapper that they would remain friends for life. After the holiday, the women all take different paths in life, and we follow them for three decades as they settle down and start families, with Catrin always the glue that binds the trio together.
