In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), additional safety and sanitation measures are in effect at this property. The Orange Cap is awarded to the batsman who scores the most runs during the entire IPL tournament. The player who holds the Orange Cap wears it while fielding to signify his position as the leading run-scorer. If two or more players have the same number of runs, the player with a better batting average is awarded the Orange Cap. In case of a tie in both runs and batting average, the player who has scored the runs in fewer innings is given the award.

Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate. Shaun Marsh is the only player to win the Orange Cap as an uncapped player in IPL 2008 for Punjab. The left-handed batter was just 24 when he won the Orange cap. Other players who have scored multiple centuries in the IPL include Shane Watson, David Warner, AB de Villiers, and Rohit Sharma, each with 4 centuries to their name. Many great all-rounders have played in the IPL but no one has come far to win the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap simultaneously in the same season. Most players start the tournament with big scores for their side but not many are likely to sustain with the consistency factor. And the Orange Cap is the award for the player who manages to compile runs throughout the season rather than in a few games. The player who outwits the rest of the players in the league and finishes top on the run-scoring charts gets the Orange Cap in WPL.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are tied for having the most Orange Cap winners in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with each team having had three players win the award. The Royal Challengers Bangalore Orange Cap winners include Chris Gayle, who won it twice (in 2011 and 2012), and Virat Kohli, who won it three times (in 2016, 2017, and 2019). Additionally, the Royal Challengers Bangalore AB de Villiers won the award in 2016 while playing for the team. Once the season progress ahead, players who are leading on the run-scoring list can wear the Orange Cap on the field. The player with the most runs at the end of IPL 2033, including playoffs fixtures, will get the Orange Cap.
