EASYJoint can be installed dry, however to use this method the paving must be sealed at least 2 - 3 days before the EASYJoint application. The paving slabs must be sealed on five sides (the top and four edges). When applying dry, EASYJoint compound must be compressed, by striking off with a pointing tool into the joints as it will not self-compact in the same way it does when applied with water. Any dates specified by Building & DIY Supplies for delivery of the Goods are intended to be an estimate and time for delivery shall not be made of the essence by notice. If no dates are so specified, delivery shall be within a reasonable time. Both the bedding and sub-base must be permeable. When using a mortar bedding mix, this should be no stronger than 6:1 (sharp sand: cement). Be careful when using add-mixtures such as SBR or PVA as these can seriously affect the permeability of a mortar mix. Be careful not to damage your stone or slab by removing the old mortar or grout. Once this is out, dig up as much old sand or mud as you can. I use a small screwdriver initially for this. There are some huge benefits to this later on in the guide. Pressure washer the joint out The original jointing compound for all weather paving. It can be used rain or shine, at any time with an oustanding finish.Less water is needed when applying EASYJoint to porcelain paving, as there is little risk of residue staining. You will find that a small amount of water, added to form it into a slurry, will make it easier to fill the joints properly. When applying to porcelain, to ensure an effective joint, the operator MUST strike the joint off, to compact the grout fully. Compaction forces out air and water which helps the joint harden faster. Wet the Paving. Thoroughly soak the patio or paved area to be jointed with lots of water using a hose. The paving must be absolutely saturated before starting and remain soaked throughout the application process ‘the wetter, the better.’ We strongly recommend not shortcutting this process, particularly when working with absorbent or sensitive materials such as Sandstone, Granite and Limestone. Highly absorbent and porous stone will require sealing, 2-3 days prior to laying, on its top surface and four edges. EASYJoint is the original sweep-in all-weather jointing compound and still the best truly "All Weather Paving Joint Compound". Do not be fooled by other paving jointing compounds making similar claims. Azpects sells tens of thousands of tubs of EASYJoint every month to satisfied customers all over the Europe and North America. The jointing compound wants a 3mm gap (no problem if much larger like 10mm) and in their example they want to highlight an inch depth, despite being a new install, they will still want you to go an inch down on your old patio – this is pretty much the standard and whilst it never guarantees you hold weeds and insects at bay, you give yourself the best possible chance! EASYJoint offers all-year-round use. It can be applied any time in the wet warm or freezing cold. It is up to 20 times faster to use than traditional mortar jointing products and there is no need to bend over or be on your hands and knees to trowel it in. The EASYJoint product is extremely strong and offers long-lasting joints for years to come. When used correctly there will be no staining on patio slabs as the products comes away completely cleanly. To further aid this, "point" or "strike" the joint; do not leave it textured. This ensures the top of the filler is below the top rounded edge of the paving and helps it adhere to the base and sides of the paving material. You’ll probably want one tub if you have a patio around 15m2. I know they say you can get 20m2 but if you have wider and deeper joints then it’ll not go as far. My patio area is about 6 metres by 4 metres and I used two tubs to give you an idea of my experience. If heavy or prolonged rain is forecast, it is ideal to wait for drier conditions as heavy rain may disturb sand particles in the EASYJoint mix before it cures solid, giving an uneven texture. Prolonged rain will also extend the curing process.

EASYJoint is available in a selection of 5 colours which is one of it's main selling points. Whatever your project, there is a colour suitable for it. Joint-IT has comparable colours, but only in 3 out of 5 colours. It's important to note that the two products aren't interchangeable, so if you've already started a project with one, you can't simply switch to the other, but the colours are a very similar with 3 of the ranges. Overall EASYJoint seems like a good option. It works exactly like it says on the tin and with proper application, there is very little that can go wrong. However, there does seem to be a small issue with production where around 10-20% of the tubs have already set before being opened.
