Wool: Made primarily from sheep's fur, wool is known to be some of the warmest fabric around. (Read: When that airplane air conditioner hits, a wool wrap will keep you nice and toasty.) It's hypoallergenic, making it a great choice for those with sensitivities, and it's mildew- and mold-resistant (wool can reportedly soak up to as much as 30 percent of its weight in water), meaning even if you spill a bit of liquid on it, it won't get super gross in your suitcase. You shouldn't put your wool in the dryer to avoid shrinking. The name “cashmere” originates from the region of Kashmir in northern India where the Changthangi Goat , more commonly known as the Pashmina Goat or Kashmir Goat , is native to Ladakh and Kashmir and has been bred, usually nomadically, on the roof of the world for many hundreds of years. There are now numerous breeds of cashmere goat , and many are bred in China, Australia, Mongolia, and Tibet, but those which grow the finest cashmere wool (12-13 microns diameter) mostly live at over 4,000 metres (2½ miles) above sea level, where the temperatures range from a toasty +35℃/95℉ down to a bitter -20℃/-31℉ (although in a fresh breeze this would feel like -32℃/-26℉).

Our luxury designer wraps are made from the finest quality Scottish cashmere in 2-ply yarn (or more) which is not only softer and warmer than single ply cashmere, but will last for many years to come (see Craftmanship). In fact, if you look after it, as well as lasting for a long time it will become even softer with age. Cashmere production is the largest in China, which is followed by Mongolia. But the quality of Cashmere coming from these areas is nowhere close the Cashmere from Kashmir. Kashmiri Cashmere is rare, finest and hence expensive than the others. One Cashmere goat of Ladakh produced around 150 grams of Cashmere wool per year Oversized Cashmere Scarves My favourite is always taking mine to the beach – the drama – the luxury – the functioning warmth, always fill my heart with gratitude of the moment. My CATHERINE ROBINSON OVERSIZED CASHMERE WRAP always elevates a beach walk to a gracious life moment.”The Wool Company pashminas are hand-loomed and hand-finished in Kathmandu in Nepal from skilfully hand-spun cashmere. These cashmere shawls have been sourced over many years by us from many different producers, some of whom only produce one style of shawl for us, as we feel it is worthy of being part of our collection. We‘ve always been somewhat obsessive about quality consequently we would never introduce a pure cashmere scarf unless we know it is simply the best possible quality, meaning you can buy any cashmere pashmina from us in confidence. Cashmere wool is collected during mid spring when goats tend to shed it naturally. It starts from March end to May. During this time, hormonal changes in the animal forces it to shed the wool, and the goat rubs itself with rough surfaces to get rid of some portion of this warm fleece. The animal is ethically treated and wool is combed off its body with specialized tools and combs by professionals. When the entire wool is collected, it is sorted as per finesse. Pure Cashmere is later separated from guard hair and processed further.
