We know with Aios and Bele that they ascended and it's def a possibility that they thought this was the only way to control the narrative.

Yeah, except I had technically done that with Bele, paving the way for her to replace Hanan if he fell.I loved seeing the characters growth both individually, as units and as found families. We got so much more depth to each, with reveals, and answers we have all been DYING for! We also got plenty of new WHAT DOES THIS MEAN moments to keep our brains searching, and inevitably reaching for rereads to look for more clues. I feel like the characters and places they inhabit really developed so much more fully in my mind. Everything gained a new layer of depth, and that’s thanks to Jen’s beautiful descriptions, and the deeply thoughtful humanizing of characters. I found so many moments where I felt deeply moved to tears or chills. Moments where I found quotes I HAD to write down to hold onto forever, because they felt like they were always somehow waiting for me. There to say hey, you’re not alone, it’s okay to not be okay. I found myself feeling like my own heart was there beating in Sera’s chest, and it was impactful beyond words. This book was so much more than just a good story, it was that moment of feeling seen and the knowing that you are not alone that so many of us search for. Thank you Jen for how much you clearly poured your heart into this, countless readers will be forever changed by your words.

There are so many people to love, so many people to hate, and everything in between. I loved being wrapped up in in this world and I didn’t want to leave. And then JLA drops a cliffhanger that left me reeling in more ways than one! The emotional punches in those final chapters had my heart pounding, and I am desperate to continue the story.I understand the sentiment,” Penellaphe said with a bemused expression. “Prophecies can often be confusing, even to those who receive them. And, sometimes, only bits and pieces of a prophecy are known by one—the beginning or the end—while the middle is known to another and vice versa. But some visions have come to pass, both in Iliseeum and in the mortal realm. It’s hard to see this since the destruction of the Gods of Divination and the passing of the last of the oracles.” The truth about Sera's plan is out, shattering the fragile trust forged between her and Nyktos. Surrounded by those distrustful of her, all Sera has is her duty. She will do anything to end Kolis, the false King of Gods, and his tyrannical rule of Iliseeum, thus stopping the threat he poses to the mortal realm. As well as Nektas, I honestly would love a whole series dedicated to him, Jadis and Reaver. My favourite characters easily.

Even though I was a little annoyed near the end by Sera’s unending inner talks about her feelings for Nyktos, I still like her as the main character. She is still strong and determined to do whatever it takes to help the mortal realm, and also the Shadowlands because she came to care for the people she met there. The author did a splendid job with her, and I will be happy to read another book with her as the main character, as long as the long inner monologues are toned down a bit. But then she started to really admit to herself and come to terms with her feelings and respect others which really made her character better. also, I WAS SO PISSED THAT ALLES BETRAYED THEM!!! i was starting to vibe with his flirtatious and he goes and kidnaps sera and turns her over to kolis 🧍🏻‍♀️ The chemistry between Sera and Ash is so good (not surprising) and I really enjoyed the progression of their relationship in this book. I like that we still get to see them growing as individuals and as a duo – and how things aren’t always easy or straight forward. That they have to learn acceptance for themselves and for each other. It’s interesting how things seem so easy between the two of them, but at the same time, so difficult. The way they play each other, entice and goad each other – it’s so much fun and omfg I know it’s bad to be jealous of fictional characters, but…👀 He wishes he never had his kardia removed. He wants to love her and hates himself for being her damnation. Honestly, this entire book is one big painfest. I love them so much, I seriously do. It's nice to know that in the present time (FBAA timeline) these two are together and she ascended, are madly in love and had two children. I know it gets all messed up because of reasons we do not know yet but it's always good to know they will get their happy ending. They were gods able to see what was hidden to others—their truths—both past and future,” Penellaphe explained. “They called Mount Lotho home and served in Embris’s Court. The oracles would speak to them, and they were the only gods truly welcomed by the Arae.” But in terms of which series is faring better, I definitely think Flesh and Fire is winning readers over Blood and Ash. I think it would have been better if the two series were seperate and not interconnected. Sera was an awesome heroine, strong, fierce, powerful, determined, a warrior, with amazing abilities and courage. Soon she realizes that she loves Nyktos, even though he is unable to love, but she will also be protective of him. Nyktos was also great, as we couldn’t help fall in love with him; especially how he protects Sera, as well of all in his realm. They were so great together, both succumbing to their true feelings. I pressed my lips together. Most of the Ancients, being the oldest of the Primals, had passed on to Arcadia. “Uh. I did not know prophecies were dreams.”
