It’s interesting to note that the Guide Rails on the outer side are made of a softer foam than the arch side. This is true for the Transcend 6 as well. And this isn’t noticed unless you touch it. The foot rolls to the inside during the gait cycle so the outer Guide Rail isn’t part of the sensory experience. The outsole has plenty of grip and performed well in bad weather. The material is remarkably durable and there was minimal wear after putting over 100 miles in them. I can see these shoes easily going beyond 500 miles. The tongue offers an excellent cushion and does not provoke any irritation. It provides the best comfort you can have. Brooks is a major American designer of running shoes that is prestigious in the running world. The brand surely knows what they are doing, and this 19th version of their Adrenaline model proves it. The engineered fit case on the heel cup has a padded ankle area as well as a rubber heel protection. These innovations allow you to feel comfortable in every stride while feeling secure in your ankle and Achilles tendon. Midsole of the Adrenaline GTS 19

The Adrenaline GTS 19 swaps the medial-post for a set of ‘guide rails’ borrowed from the Transcend. However, as I was out of options, I thought I would try these new GTS 19 shoes with the new ‘rail’ support system. If there’s no medial post, how is the Adrenaline a support shoe? Well, it’s one in the same way the Transcend is. The midsole is similar to the Ghost, except that there’re a couple of ‘Guide Rails’ on top. With the Glycerin GTS 19 being the top tier stability offering you expect top tier materials and technologies, which it delivers both. The transition from impact to toe-off was one of the smoothest I felt in a max cushioned stability trainer. The amount of cushioning and feeling of it make the Glycerins GTS 19 perfect for easier and longer runs.In all fairness, Brooks should have named the shoe something else – because this isn’t the Adrenaline runners once knew. This is a completely different animal. THE RIDE EXPERIENCE Millions of pairs of ‘stability’ running shoes have sold based on the premise that ‘over-pronators’ need such products. A new industry was created around gait analysis, medial-posts, and what have you. Most people believed in this pseudo-science (a lot still do); even brands knew no better.

Starting alphabetically, the adidas Solar Glide ST is a much softer shoe but has something in common with the GTS. Its midsole has raised edges which adidas calls ‘Solar propulsion rails’– but they serve a similar function as the GuideRail. Meanwhile, towards the heel, you have a 3D Printed technology, which allows the shoe to wrap your foot and keep you well-balanced in every step. The heel counter and ample cushioning provide a secure fit that translated into stability of the shoe. Overall, the upper carried on the dream-like feeling of running in these. On every step, I could feel the rails correcting me. I was landing on my midfoot and my foot wasn’t rolling in which was great! it still felt awkward because other parts of my body were being corrected though. The outsole hasn’t changed a lot. Only the midfoot has its half-shank replaced by a foam pod; the rest of the outsole feels the same. The blown rubber forefoot provides good traction and helps with the cushioning too.Sure you could find more cushioning or responsiveness in a max stability trainer, but I doubt you will find one that is a more comfortable and smoother ride than the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19. Based on my experience with the Glycerin GTS it was the right move and I look forward to future versions. The front and mid-upper section are very comfortable and very spacious. This extra space has caused some runners to complain about their feet not being held as tight as they think it should be.

The Asics GT-2000 7 is a recent update to the popular series. It doesn’t feature anything new, just a continuation of the old formula. Simply put, there’s a firm medial posted midsole along with a mesh and synthetic leather upper. I had reached the point where running 5k would leave me struggling to walk for 2-3 days due to knee pain. The maiden voyage of the Glycerin GTS was a 5-mile hilly route. Although they had an ample bounce out of the box, they were stiff and I knew I was in for a break-in period. At the same time, if you like the feel of a medial post under the foot, look past the Adrenaline in favor of medially posted shoes like the Saucony Guide ISO 2 or New Balance 860V9.The other two areas that contribute a lot here are the Segmented Crash Pad and the Asymmetrical 3D Fit Print saddle. Both help guide the foot into a natural position without forcing or allowing the shoe to come loose or flail about, which can sometimes happen with heavier stability models. I wanted to run in them long after my review miles. Together with the Adrenaline, they would make an ideal running rotation.
