There are sharper color films than Fujicolor 200. But this film is plenty capable of getting good detail. If you shoot your C200 before it expires, you can most likely get away with not storing in your fridge. Of course, I wouldn’t leave it in direct sunlight or next to my oven either, but keeping it in a cool, dry cupboard for the relatively short time you have it should suffice.

Fuji's Fujicolor 200 Film is designed for its ease of use and flexibilty, Fujifilm 200 works equally well both outdoors in daylight or for indoor photography when using a flash.

Instead of degrading it for not being a special colour negative film like a Kodak Ektar 100 or a Portra 400, I like to recognise it for what it is. A reliable general use film that gives you exactly what you expect, with whatever working camera you have, in almost all good light situations, and at low cost.Even if something did somehow go wrong and you lost your shots, dispiriting as that would be, at least you haven’t also wasted an expensive Ektachrome E100 or rare discontinued Fujicolor Natura 1600, for example.

This film is definitely not a first choice for professional work, or editorial assignment. It does the job of making a photo, but it doesn’t capture the range of details, highlights, and shadows you would want for a high end assignment. If you’re a street photographer who likes to shoot without thinking, but does think about the budget, this film could also be an option. Think of it as the best film to train with, or to pop into a point-and-shoot. This review is based on two rolls of C200 - shot and developed. First was shot on a Pentax MZ-5 where I used the camera to do the light metering. About 50% was shot at ISO200 and the other 50% were shot at ISO100. The other roll was shot on Leica M3 with me being the light meter. I did use a light meter from the phone from time to time as well.

When I reviewed Fuji’s Industrial 100 film, I mentioned how its greens and reds were the colours that popped the most. C200 is similar with the greens, although the reds – while still strong – come out a little darker and less gaudy than with the Industrial. If you appreciate things for what they are and use them for what they were made for, I put forward that C200 is, just like all of those other films just mentioned, special in its own way.
