Juvenile Hell remains is an enduring Queensbridge debut made by young minds in lockstep that proved influential for decades thereafter. After getting back into vinyl last year this was one of my important albums to own as I've had this on cassette and cd. The kings of the East Coast sound had a perfect blend of dark soul, low swung swing and all pervading menace as well, of course, as some super hard bars.

Still so much to discover in those lyrics and still adaptable in my 42 yr old life as it was when I was 14. With their albums The Infamous (1995) and Hell On Earth (1996) they achieved fame within and outside the hip hop community, including hits such as "Shook Ones (Part II)" and "Survival of the Fittest". On this album, primary producer Havoc reached a high level of mastery in his production efforts, a truly signature style of deep bass grooves, piercing organs, ice-cold snare pops, melodic samples, and haunting orchestral snippets. Mobb Deep redefined East Coast hip hop in the early 90s with their release Juvenile Hell and the break-out follow up The Infamous.It marked Mobb Deep's transition from a relatively unknown Rap duo to an influential and commercially successful one. Came with the actual cover (cause that’s another complaint from the reviews) and both sides play fine.

The album features Mobb Deep Queensbidge affiliates Infamous Mobb and Big Noyd and was certified Gold. Lee Gomez aka Wipe The Needle has produced these beats, which are all new, but the vocals will be recognised to hip hop heads. It features guest spots from Grian Chatten, Lianne La Havas, Confucius MC, assia and Kevin Abstract. Every song here feels right, right from the moment you put the needle on the record you are taken directly to the galaxy of Queens expertly scored by Havoc.
