If you live in a coastal area, the best way to apply seaweed fertilzier is directly to the soil after simply collecting it from your local beach. Jeremy Yamaguchi, a gardening expert and the CEO of Lawn Love, said that 'while it's possible to use dried seaweed, you won't get as much benefit. I recommend using fresh seaweed and mixing it into a nutrient-dense soil mixture, then letting it compost naturally to act as fertilizer.'

Liquid seaweed feeds aren’t the most powerful fertilisers in the world, and their NPK ratios are less favourable than chemical-laden alternatives, but well-known gardeners such as Monty Don and Alan Titchmarsh have publicly endorsed this type of fertiliser and have highlighted its ecological benefits. The study was not conclusive and further testing was recommended but it highlights the potential benefits of this natural alternative to chemical lawn fertilizers. The Benefits Of Seaweed As A Natural Biostimulant For Lawns

It is not too dissimilar to why we as humans might eat fermented foods such as kimchi, kefir, kombucha or sauerkraut. These foods would not by themselves lead to a very healthy diet and we would soon end up with many health problems due to nutrient deficiencies. However, adding fermented foods as part of a balanced diet improves your microbiome, digestive transit and uptake of vitamins and nutrients for a healthier more regular you! Blood, Fish and Bone: I’ve been using this for the last two years, and while it’s not vegan-friendly, it is organic and the granular powder goes a long in my garden. I also like the large 10kg tubs that last all year. See what I think of fish blood a bone here. Part of this might be down to some of the really hot weather that we’ve been having at the moment but also i think the lawn’s ready for a bit of a feed. The benefits of using Liquid Seafeed on your Lawn Yes, I would make a seaweed tea by soaking it in a barrel of water for a few weeks until the water is a nice dark colour and then use that as a foliar feed on the grass. A natural fertilizer such as seaweed revitalizes the ingredients that occur naturally in nature but may be depleted in certain soils. As a result, the lifecycle of naturally microbial activity is revitalized.

Remember that at its core, a healthy lawn is the result of healthy soil. It’s important to feed the soil an abundance of micronutrients and regularly replenish the beneficial ingredients that make your soil alive.Seaweed contains over sixty minerals and trace elements, along with numerous bio stimulants, and it also contains iodene which is an excellent disease suppressant. As you can probably tell, I’m a bit of a fan of our sea-borne, slippery friend, and no wonder. All of the above reason contribute to make seaweed a top class supplement for both grass and garden. The Wonder of Seaweed in Your Garden

Even though my lawn is in a shaded garden and the growing conditions are far from optimal, I was pleased with the results. A well cared-for lawn with good coverage – maybe the odd weed and a bit of moss would score a 6. It wouldn’t take long to coax it into being more beautiful. The ratio of NPK (that’s Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium) isn’t perfect, but I’ve found this is a compromise with all organic lawn feeds that I’ve used.It doesn’t come with a spreader, so I had to guess the dose by using my hands, which isn’t ideal or accurate.
