Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and aspirin can irritate the lining of the stomach and intestines, leading to diarrhoea. Please note that these capsules relieve the symptoms of diarrhoea only and should not be used as a substitute for rehydration treatment. 2. BEFORE YOU TAKE THE MEDICINEDo not take this medicine if: Dehydration may be a complication of diarrhoea, as large amounts of fluid are lost in the stools. This medicine acts only to make the stools more solid and less frequent and does not replace lost fluids. Therefore it is important to drink more fluid than usual. Concomitant treatment with oral desmopressin resulted in a 3-fold increase of desmopressin plasma concentrations, presumably due to slower gastrointestinal motility. This medicine only treats the symptoms of diarrhoea and should not be taken for long periods of time.
