Description

Whether you want the ease of a sterilising solution, a steam-sterilising microwave option or the latest electric all-rounder, we've looked at all the options on the market. We've also listened to our BabyCentre parents to find out which sterilisers they are raving or ranting about. Milton Sterilising Tablets have been created, to sterilise your baby’s items by using only cold water. This method of cleaning has been used for many years by parents and medical professionals alike. The tablets have been specifically formulated to kill 99.9% of germs.

Once the required 15 minutes are up, each item can be shaken and used without further rinsing – though our tester found her baby equipment smelled of chlorine afterwards and felt hesitant about giving it to her baby (it’s perfectly safe to do so, but the smell is rather off-putting). Like other polyols, maltitol is non-cariogenic – i.e. is not metabolised by oral bacteria which break down sugars and starches to release acids that may lead to cavities or the erosion of tooth enamel In 1985, a comprehensive assessment of sweeteners was produced by the Scientific Committee for Food of the European Union (EU), which concluded that maltitol is safe for use as a food additive.

How to Use

The weighted grid supplied keeps all the items under the water so they remain sterile for as long as they’re in the container (up to 24 hours). It’s important to make sure that there are no air bubbles trapped in the bottles or teats before leaving to sterilise. They also loved how convenient these tablets were when on holiday or away from home and they couldn't be easier to use. Full product specs Maltitol significantly reduces the rise in blood glucose and insulin levels associated with the ingestion of glucose as it is slowly absorbed.

In warm soapy water (or with Milton baby bottle cleaner), ensure all items are thoroughly cleaned. All residues should be rinsed from the item, before using the sterilising tablets. In 5L of cold clean water, drop 1 tablet and leave to dissolve, this makes your sterilising solution. The items you wish to sterilise should be fully submerged in the solution for a minimum of 15 minutes, to ensure they are fully sterilised. Hazards and Cautions The sterilising solution’s active agent is sodium hypochlorite, which is a bleach, but Milton manufacture it using a purification process that removes the heavy metal ions. Also, because of how convenient and small they are, they're great for going on holiday's when you might not be able to take your big steriliser with you. Milton sterilising tablets have been expertly developed to sterilise baby items using cold water. The Milton cold water method of sterilising has been used by mums and hospitals for over 70 years and has been specifically formulated to kill 99.9% of germs. Ideal for use at home, travel and overnight stays. The solution is effective for 24 hours and there is no need to rinse baby items bafore they go into baby's mouth. Use to sterilise all breastfeeding equipment and baby feeding accessories: breast pump parts, baby bottles, soothers, teething rings, small plastic toys, plastic cutlery and weaning items. Produced by the hydrogenation of maltose, which is obtained from starch, maltitol produces a noticeable cooling sensation in the mouth and, like other Fergus, does not brown or caramelize when heated. Benefits of Maltitol

Benefits of Maltitol

You won’t need to wash the container before first use as the fluid you’ll fill it with is, itself, sterile. Is the Milton Cold Water Steriliser safe? In practice, the container doesn’t have any nooks and crannies and doesn’t collect dust, so it’s low-maintenance in the extreme. How does it look?

The process involves dissolving tablets or fluid into the container of water and submerging items in it for 15 minutes as per manufacturer guidelines – the NHS recommends 30 minutes. More items can be added as and when they’re used.

They also loved how reliable these sterilising tablets were, and love that Milton are such a trustworthy brand.

As the Milton Cold Water Steriliser isn’t electric, it can be kept anywhere from the sink to the garden. It can also be thrown into a kitchen unit, the under-stairs cupboard or bathroom for storage, which our tester found appealing.Maltitol’s advantages include it being non-cariogenic and having fewer calories than sugar Does not contribute to tooth decay Milton Sterilising Tablets are flexible for home use or if you are travelling, with the solution remaining effective for 24 hours. There is also no need to rinse the items before you give them to your baby. The tablets can be used to sterilise your baby feeding accessories and breastfeeding equipment, such as; breast pump parts, soothers, small plastic toys, teething rings, plastic cutlery, baby bottles and weaning items. How to Use Maltitol is part of a family of bulk sweeteners called sugar alcohols (polyols). It is about 90% as sweet as sugar (sucrose) and is very similar in taste, but boasts significantly less calories (only 2.1 calories per gram). If you wanted to, you could also use any volume of water in any clean container – as long as you use the correct number of tablets for the volume of water added. So easy to use, cold water and 1 tablet, wait 15 minutes and add your items to be sterilised. I used them to sterislise bottles, dummies, toys, teethers and weaning plates and spoons. When you take the items out they always smell so clean and you know that they are ready to use."
