I liked how weird this case is, how they slowly had to unravel it to find out the motive for the killing. Did I see the ending coming? Partly to be honest. I was not totally surprised by the twist towards the end when we learn just how everything is connected. Sometimes, the answer is in front of your eyes all the time and I have read so many thrillers that I felt it was quite obvious who the person behind it all was. That doesn't mean that I did not enjoy reading the book, but some twist were just a bit too obvious...

of those kind of books so if you like these kind of mysteries I really think you will like it a lot. It was inside the other house, behind one of the windows. He didn’t know if it was reflecting off the glass or what.

PLEASE This is an unofficial companion book to David Baldacci's popular novel "The Fallen (Memory Man series Book 4)" - it is meant to enhance your reading experience and it is not the original book. Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes--obscure bible verses, odd symbols--have the police stumped.

Kudos, Mr. Baldacci for keeping the series strong and the stories sharp. I look forward to each new book you have and can assure you that I remain a fervent fan of all your work. Electrical wiring had gotten mixed with liquid. He had investigated homicides involving arson and the smell was unmistakable. There was a fire in there. He let out a deep breath, and kept hold of Zoe’s hand”. They “sat there, while both life and death revolved around them.”Super writing, great character development. As always Baldacci continues to write a well thought out novel of twists, turns and suspense. The story itself was complex as well. There were, in fact, a few parallel storylines going in the book, and, at times, I had trouble keeping them apart. There were really a lot of things going on compared to the shadow of a town that the place has become over the years. But, I guess, if you’re searching for trouble and poking the bee’s nest, you will definitely find it. In addition to writing fiction, Baldacci is also a philanthropist and has donated millions of dollars to various charities and causes, including literacy programs and childhood hunger initiatives. Actually there are a lot of different things going on that will keep the reader guessing at the truth. There are the drugs but there also appears to be an insurance scam. Toss in a rumor of hidden treasure to keep things interesting. As other reviewers have pointed out there are a lot of bad guys and gals. You really don't know who you can trust or believe. Perhaps too many bad guys for a small town but with the drug addicts and dealers this isn't Mayberry. Along with his brain change, his personality had changed as well. The gregarious fun-loving prankster had forever vanished and in its place -

He was also aware that the difference between the two queries was more complex than some might have believed. Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes–obscure bible verses, odd symbols–have the police stumped. He moved swiftly down the darkened hallway, bouncing off one wall and then its parallel. Something fell to the floor as he brushed against it. He didn't die, obviously, but he did end up with some rather unusual after-effects - most notably being hyperthymesia, or the ability to remember every single moment of every single day and call any one of them up at will. He also acquired synesthia, or the association of colors with people and objects. Particularly in his career as a detective, those rare abilities usually are extremely helpful, but in his personal life, not so much. There's no escaping, for instance, the years-ago horror of the brutal murder of his beloved wife and young daughter. He's also a bit emotionally challenged, in that for the most part he's unable to express his feelings. Those qualities make him a unique character - the biggest reason I'm a big fan. She sighed. “A lot. None of them are as cool as Aunt Alex.” She brightened. “She came to visit because my birthday is almost here. I’m turning nine.”Baldacci is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia School of Law. There was justifiable homicide, the best example of which was self-defense. There you intended to harm another and you were doing so for your personal benefit, but the law said you had the right to defend yourself, which disqualified it from being murder. As for the plot, Baronville is like so many other ghost towns in America where drugs like opioids have become a real issue taking the lives of so many. I love how Amos was able to connect the dots and find the culprits to these horrible crimes and bring justice to the small town of Baronville.

David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to write down his stories. (Much later, when David thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, she revealed that she’d given him the notebook to keep him quiet, "because every mom needs a break now and then.”) In addition to being a prolific writer, David is a devoted philanthropist, and his greatest efforts are dedicated to his family’s Wish You Well Foundation®. Established by David and his wife, Michelle, the Wish You Well Foundation supports family and adult literacy programs in the United States. Baldacci is a two-time recipient of the International Thriller Writers’“Thriller Master” award, the highest honor given by the organization. For romance fans, there's a budding love story in the novel, which leads to friction between the female characters.....but not for the reasons you might think. There's also an interesting theme about the damage caused by sports-enhancement drugs, which I found intriguing.
