I started writing this article only about pantsu, but I decided to include the word panchira that went viral along with the word pantsu among otakus. Especially because the word pantsu and the constant appearance of panties in anime is part of the panchira phenomenon that became popular even closer to the 2000s.

Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections—they may also appear in recommendations and other places. It spread to the point where it became very popular during World War II, before giving way to Western influence and the arrival of new men's underwear such as kangaroo briefs, boxer briefs, or boxers. It was very common in the early 1900s. Admittedly, its use declined tremendously after World War II. But Japan being what it is, a land that combines tradition and modernity like no other, men continued to wear it in various circumstances. Before we get into the details of distinguishing one form from another, let's summarize in a few lines what a fundoshi is and its history. The first thing we noticed is that this problem is not from the Japanese language, as the word pantsu [パンツ] comes from the English panties or pants. In English the word pants usually refers to pants (jeans and others), but in Japanese it is mainly used to refer to any type of underwear, whether panties or underwear. In fact, the English translation of " rokushaku" means "six shaku" which correspond to about 180 cm (although they can measure up to 300 cm). The "shaku" is a Japanese unit of measurement that corresponds to the English "feet" and is approximately 30.30 cm. As for male Japanese underwear, there has been a recent resurgence in the popularity of 19th century-style suteteko: long underpants made from sweat-absorbing fabric that’s apparently impossible to beat during Japan’s summers. But it doesn’t mean that Japanese underwear has its eyes set only on the past. Not so long ago, the country came out with Deoest, a special kind of undergarment with pads meant to eliminate all the foul odors of the human body.

Even ignoring the existence of koshimaki, a kimono is nothing like a bathrobe that can turn anyone into an unwitting flasher with just a moderately strong gust of wind. Kimonos are quite heavy and large garments made up of multiple layers wrapped tightly around the body. There is no way any woman would worry about people being able to see up her kimono in the best of circumstances, and especially not when their lives were at stake. How Japanese Underwear is Bringing the Past, the Present, and the Future Together An "etchū fundoshi", on the other hand, is considered the simplified form of fundoshi. Originating in the city of Toyama in Japan, the one that was also known as the pants or undergarment of the samurai became very common in the early 20ᵉ century. Initial Earrings • Gift For Little Girl • For Niece • Twin Girls • Sterling Silver • Letter Earring • Alphabet • Small Dangles • MARIELLAA hybrid between the rokushaku and the etchu, the wari fundoshi differs from these two forms in the slit in the length that starts from one end and measures about 50-60 cm. Thus cut, the two parts of the fabric can be wrapped around the waist.

This makes it a popular garment during national or sporting events like swimming. Mokko Fundoshi More traditional, there are stores that are well established in Okinawa, Tokyo and major cities in Japan.

The word misepan literally means to see panties, but it does not refer to the action of seeing panties but the panties that are revealed. This term refers to people who wear clothes that reveal their underwear. Another example with the Hakata festival in February which takes place in Okayama and brings together thousands of men in fundoshi. Other such events (called " matsuri") take place throughout the year in Japan and are a great celebration of tradition. Of course, it is possible to get them on these occasions. This ended up having an effect on the popularization of the term panchira that we are going to see now. What does panchira mean?
