I sold my beautiful digibook in preparation for this after its recent cinema rerelease and after hearing nothing assumed it wasn’t happening. All of the supplements are carried over from the included, previously-released Blu-ray from 2012. Of note, this does have an included booklet with stills from the film as well as some production notes. The Shark is Still Working: The Impact and Legacy of Jaws– In this we get some interviews with the cast and crew as well as director Steven Spielberg. Some other filmmakers such as Kevin Smith and M. Night Shyamalan chime in as well. Broken up into ten chapters, we get a look at pretty much everything that went into the making of this monumental classic and it’s a must see for any fan of the film. positioned slightly below the characters, aimed upwards to allow plenty of sky into the frame, at the 52:40 mark for a very good example of both color

During one of the best scenes in film history, when Quint and Hooper are comparing scar stories while waiting for Jaws to resurface with a barrel attached, we find the true test of HDR. The hull of the boat is dark and not evenly lit, and much of the scene is shadow. But with High Dynamic Range some of those details in the dark areas are more evident. Sure, I imagine come around the 50th anniversary they will do another restoration, likely in 8K by then, and that is the only way I think this film will ever look any better than this. That’s just my honest opinion here, folks. It is one very nice upgrade and worth making the jump from DVD or Blu-ray to a great 4K presentation of the original 2012 restoration — in all of its glory. giving more balance and life to flesh tones, more stability to sand under harsh daytime sun, more resplendence to blue waters and skies, the latter two

textures and hairs are unsurprisingly some of the most obvious beneficiaries of the resolution increase and clarity gains. What a vivid, flowing, and fine For more about Jaws 4K and the Jaws 4K Blu-ray release, see Jaws 4K Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on May 23, 2020 where this Blu-ray release scored 4.5 out of 5. For its 45th anniversary, Universal brings Jaws to the UHD format with a practically impeccable 2160p/Dolby Vision UHD presentation. In the chaotically immersive sound elements, notably as the shark beats up against the cage during the film's climax. Dialogue is clear and well prioritized. The Dolby Vision color grading is just as big a victory for the picture as the resolution increase. The colorists have certainly not gone overboard by redefining the film's color temperature or fundamentally altering any component. On the contrary, this is a perfectly natural grading that it never fails to execute a jump; that holding on the hole for a few seconds more than you remember gets you every time – it’s masterful.

and balanced. Additionally, the stage stretches gently, but naturally, to include seaside atmospherics, such as rolling waves and beachside din when For the week that ended on July 4th, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Sonic the Hedgehog held the number-one spot on the Blu-ray-only chart. If there’s ever a movie in which sound plays a role, I’d say it has to be Jaws. John Williams created one of the most iconic scores in the history of cinema. I remember how good the DTS HD Master Audio sound mix was on the previously-released Blu-ray and now we’ve got a Dolby Atmos mix that ups the ante yet again. The result is nothing short of perfection. Spielberg explains on the featurette how the individual elements were used to make the sound “move” from left to right and add in surrounds. Of course the score is of the utmost importance and it’s never sounded better. I remember in some earlier versions of the film, there was a bit of a loss when it came to the dialogue. This isn’t the case here as it sounds sharp and crisp. This is another testament to the restoration of this film and I’ve simply never heard it sound more amazing than it does here. Supplements: What are the extras? Next, the all-new Dolby Atmos audio mix here blows the lossless 7.1 surround mix, found on the previous Blu-ray release, away or perhaps right out of the water? The addition of height channels and still keeping the four rear channels works out exceptionally well. This can go from being one very over-the-top intense mix to being subtle at the drop of a hat. The height channels, here in Atmos, get used for the sound effects and especially for the beautiful original score by John Williams. This mix is certain to please anyone. The 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc includes the following bonus materials, presented in a variety of HD and SD video quality with Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo sound: The height channel speakers get used for sound effects really effectively in ways to make things such as waves or a boat sounds later on in really fill the room. It’s nothing excessive, just something that does the film justice in terms of sound, it’s worth stating that John Williams’ original score here sounds excellent with a very thunderous amount of bass at times, a nice rear channel usage, and just a perfect level of height channel now added. This Dolby Atmos mix is truly amazing and by far the best this film has ever sounded. This is remarkable to hear a 1975 film that originally was released in Mono in a sound mix now even more intense and justifiable than the previous 7.1 mix (found on the 2012 Blu-ray).
