Description

Being young was awkward, when you weren’t hiding behind the controller that is! Remember not knowing how to talk to someone you liked? So you’d awkwardly sort of be around them and existed continually, never making progress or effort to let them know you were there? The T-00 Tyrant doesn’t. He has no fear. No reservations. He’s a successful go-getter and a man on a mission. He knows what he wants, and he wants you. (Dead!) When you end your turn, the next player will have their turn, and so on. Soon, you’ll find yourselves spread out across the mansion, perhaps too far to call for help… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The main new mechanic for this expansion is the introduction of Mr X. Unlike other enemies within the game, his pursuit is relentless and he appears in every scenario. His only goal is to kill you and the other survivors, and he is pretty good at his job! The introduction of Mr X into a scenario is done through the encounter table or through specific Tension Cards. Either way, you’re not going to be able to avoid him for long! If you find yourself in the same square as an enemy — whether they’ve moved toward you in a previous turn, or you’ve stepped in voluntarily — you’ll need to perform an evade roll to get past them. Resident Evil 2: The Board Game was designed by Mat Hart, Richard Loxam, and Sherwin Matthews, and it is published by Steamforged Games.

Feeling brave, Survivors? Then let’s head where few others dare to tread. Deep into the darkness, where mutant monsters make their lairs… This particular expansion is an odd one; the campaign play with this mini-boss is wildly different to the free choice play. When we played it as part of a free choice scenario, the tension cards we drew actually worked in our favour and caused the Giant Moth to leave its room and enter a long corridor. This meant we could pummel it with grenade rounds for an easy kill. This is not true to the Resident Evil game style. Side note: If you’ve got a spare action, never a bad idea to close the door behind you to avoid activating enemies that are close to your fellow S.T.A.R.S....

Stepping into the boots of your chosen S.T.A.R.S. character and heading into the mysterious Spencer Mansion, your exploration of that sinister place will be divided into turns.

Where Resident Evil 2: The Board Game shines is as a cooperative experience for up to four players. Some missions even feature scenarios that split the party, further adding to the tension of the experience. If you’re a Resident Evil 2 fan and you like co-op board games, you should definitely get this game. If you’re a fan of survival games, definitely get this game. If component quality is extremely important to you, you shouldn’t buy it right away, but I still recommend giving it a try since the gameplay is so good. Once you’ve used up your four actions, any enemies on the same tile or a tile connected to your character’s tile by an open door will react. The Murder from Above Expansion was clearly made for the fans; an inclusion of the iconic encounters to truly reflect the video game feel. Resident Evil 2: The Board Game is already a great reflection of its video game counterpart, but this expansion really captures some of those more iconic moments within the story!

About Us

Once you’ve performed your four actions (or skipped actions, if you like to live dangerously), it’s time for the reaction phase. Reaction Phase Built on the survival horror engine of the previous two board games, it introduces a slew of new and updated mechanics to keep you on your toes. This beastly monstrosity, also coined as Mr X, is the central nemesis of this adventure through the damned Raccoon City Police Department and subsequent locations, and he’s got your number. Gameplay

Setup is swift because each scenario begins with just a few tiles. As you explore and open doors, you’ll build out the map, opening new pathways and discovering useful items … and deadly enemies. Following the highly-rated Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2021) board games, Resident Evil: The Board Game (2023) brings the sinister Spencer Mansion to the tabletop in a terrifying open world campaign. Resident Evil 2: The Board Game allows players to follow the narrative for the A-Playthrough of the original videogame, guiding through their characters through the overrun RPD building, darkened sewers, eerie marshalling yard, and finally into the sinister corridors of the underground laboratory. Along the way they'll have to face each of the terrifying enemies you'd expect, culminating in a life or death struggle against William Birkin as they wait for the elevator to take them to safety! With multiple scenarios to play, the game offers hours of survival horror playing time for even the most dedicated fan. But what of the B-Playthrough you ask? Well, that's where the B-Files come in. So, let’s walk through how to play a turn in Resident Evil: The Board Game, to see how those pillars are realised on the tabletop... Player Turns

If you’d rather save your ammunition (and of course, in true survival horror fashion, you’ll run out of ammo a long while before you run out of enemies…), you’ll need to carefully position enemies by lining up runs past them.
