Description

The centre of the cut is made by a racker tooth with a zero degree angle (chainsaw chains are between 15/30 deg) and only appears to be exposed when the chain goes across the sprocket. I’ve watched videos of it in action but it’s very hard to tell if there’s any side movement there or not. In indoor woodwork especially, an immense quantity of mortise and tenon work has to be done, and machines for the purpose have been used for many years. I think I will hire the Makita one for a day anyway and see of the clamp and plunge system is better than the Festool method.

Can’t help but think that if they take that path we will miss the opportunity to learn something interesting, just saying that doing things in the “correct way” not always gives the community the best results, experimentation is the key to learning. As the machine is automatic in its motion, the upper collar is applied to regulate the depth of the mortise and its position determines the rise of the table. America has been pre-eminently a wood-producing country, and has brought sh a ping, planing an d m wing machinery into the greatest perfection. I know it's not very helpful but don't you have to be a bit careful with the chains on second hands?

It’s curious how people sometimes try to own other people’s work by stuffing them under some label like “hacker” or “gamer” etc. I'd say the outlay is almost justifiable for this single job, and if you sell it on for 50% you would be on a winner.

This is the ideal tool for small to medium size timber frame companies, while being simple enough to operate for the "do-it-yourself" home builders. I keep forgetting when you have a rack saw bench to load your timber on and a timber crane for lifting 200kg is like handling match sticks.KISS, at least with a chisel and a fostener bit you are in control and if it goes wrong you stand a good chance of making it all right. Posted By: Peter_in_Hungary Posted By: JoinerReplacement chains for chain morticers are eye-wateringly expensive.

As Henry says the size of mortice required on most oak framing is too much for a pillar drill morticing attachment. Our machinery range includes, lathes, bandsaws, table saws, spindle moulders, planers and thicknessers and pillar drills as well as dust extractors, welders and water pumps.

The sword saw has a riving knife, but that doesn't appear to be useful for tenons as no cut will exceed 175mm. I mean say you have one at the top of your post and one half way down in another position is there an easy way to mark this out so it lines up perfect.
