At this point in time, it's becoming somewhat of a gag that fans revisit the classic Back to the Future trilogy every five years as a different anniversay collection with new artwork, supplements and on the latest home video format. For more about Back to the Future 4K and the Back to the Future 4K Blu-ray release, see Back to the Future 4K Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on October 18, 2020 where this Blu-ray release scored 4. Back to the Future II and III look good overall as well, but the situation is a little more complicated. If you want to pick it apart, then there's surely plenty to complain about, but, taking a step back, it's a very enjoyable upgrade on the whole. Marty’s dad George (Crispin Glover) is a spineless loser who’s been bullied all his life by his high school nemesis Biff Tannen (Thomas Wilson).

But Biff Tannen is determined to stand in their way and young Lorraine has developed a crush on Marty instead. This is most apparent in Marty's silly cowboy outfit and how he's gawked at while walking through the streets of 1885's Hill Valley. Then, stranded in 1955 after a freak accident, McFly discovers he must travel back to 1885 to rescue Doc! But overall, the resolution quality is an appreciable step-up with a very fine layer of visible grain throughout, giving each film a welcomed film-like characteristic. While the original film was released in 1985, the sequels were shot back-to-back and released 1989 and 1990 respectively. It's the worst the film gets and, even so, utterly forgivable in the grand scheme of the restoration of not just this but all three films in the trilogy.

Time travel is a subject that Hollywood has depicted many times on the big screen, particularly in recent years. hit hard, punches land with authority, and even when Marty's head hits concrete the effect proves as squeamishly authentic as ever.If the first movie is a nostalgic look at 1950s pop culture and the sequel is an homage to the sci-fi genre, then Back to the Future Part IIIis, undoubtedly, a loving tribute to the western and the American frontier in general.

For over three decades, the Back to the Future films have delighted audiences with the adventures of Doc Brown and Marty McFly. It's disappointing that the studio did not bring over the new Atmos audio track, but the existing 5. The image quality here isn’t quite perfect, but it’s definitely fair to say that thse films have never looked or sounded better.

It's up to Marty to keep Doc out of trouble, get the DeLorean running and put the past, present and future on track so they can all get. One of the most iconic movie sagas of all time, the Back to the Future trilogy has left an indelible impact on popular culture. Dolby Vision has the slight edge over HDR10, as usual, thanks to the extra 2-bits of color depth (I don’t have an HDR10+ compatible display to comment on that). However, this time around Universal Studios ensures the beloved franchise stands the test of time by reportedly performing a complete overhaul of the original 35mm camera negatives and remastering each film for brand-new 4K digital intermediates.
