As I was installing the milk carafe, I suddenly realized where I’d already seen this combination of sensor touch display and compact milk frother. Once you add hot water or hot frothy milk to the Evo One Touch’s espressos, however, you’re unlikely to care: the result is a very drinkable cup of coffee. Any issues with bitterness are masked with the sweetness of the hot milk, or diluted by the hot water enough to make the flavour more appealing. Of course, this is a plastic fully automatic machine without a touchscreen display and app. But the milk function and the general range of settings and choices show that DeLonghi is once again focusing on the essentials: coffee preparation according to your wishes. DeLonghi Magnifica Evo Features Therefore, you’ll first set the Magnifica Evo’s grinder to the third finest setting. As always. You’ll notice that the stainless steel conical burrs are neither particularly loud nor particularly quiet. As always.

With that done, the results were much improved. The espresso was still too thin and watery, however, so I used the option to manually adjust how much water the machine uses for each espresso shot. Reducing it a little helped matters immeasurably, and the result was a tasty espresso with a pleasant flavour and texture. Operating at 1450 watts, this espresso machine is energy efficient, carrying an A energy efficiency class. It is equipped with essential functions such as espresso, cappuccino, and latte macchiato making capabilities, allowing users to enjoy a variety of coffee beverages at home. Additionally, the machine comes with a built-in grinder, ensuring that freshly ground beans can be used for the perfect cup of coffee. Even if DeLonghi’s version isn’t a direct copy, I can’t help but feel like the Italian manufacturer took inspiration from its competitor. With that said, DeLonghi’s overall design is much more modern and streamlined, and the machine is even more compact. The steam arm doesn’t come with a compatible milk jug as standard so when we used a steaming jug we already owned, the wand wasn’t long enough to reach into the milk. This, of course, is easily fixed with a smaller milk jug but do bear in mind that you won’t be able to froth as much milk in one go. It was also a little disappointing not to have a milk jug included, despite the price of this machine. When we did make a cappuccino, the steam arm did a great job of frothing and adequately heating the milk within 20 seconds. The milk was silky and well-frothed and held its shape well when mixed with the espresso. You should think carefully about whether the foam-on-demand function is really a decisive reason to buy this machine.

Dark, chocolatey, full-bodied and also nice and hot: this is what I intended for my Coffeeness coffee and that’s how the machine presented it during my DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review. In fact, I would’ve been surprised if this fully automatic coffee machine had come at me with a particularly refined flavor profile. To experience the miracle of the perfect amount of milk, you have to press the My Latte button – it’s the glass icon with the heart on it. To make it easier for you to measure, the milk carafe has handy level markers. The advantage is obvious: no matter how big your cups or glasses are, you’re able to fill them. The carafe is too small to fill two latte macchiato glasses, but you’ll be able to get a couple of decent sized cappuccinos. For starters, the front-loading water tank is easy to remove and rinse, as are the drip tray and used grounds container. I’d recommend getting into the habit of taking care of those components every day. While you’re at it, make sure to rinse the brew group at the same time. After all, automatic systems only deliver as much milk as you set them to. The really acceptable “but” is the fact that here, you can completely take the dosage into your own hands and you don’t have to waste a bunch of milk. What it is, however, is a smart buy. Once you’ve added fresh coffee beans and got the settings just so, this is a machine that produces a good – if not magnificent – coffee with a minimum of fuss. De’Longhi Magnifica S Smart review: What you need to know Thankfully, it’s easy to adjust grind size on this machine: where some rivals require a fiddly tool, the De’Longhi allows you to simply turn the dial with your fingers. The only proviso is that it should only be adjusted when the grinder is running, and the manual advises users to adjust it one step at a time, giving the settings time to bed in.

The De’Longhi Magnifica Evo is one of the biggest coffee machines we’ve tested. It measures 44 x 36 x 24cm (w x d x h) which means it’s going to take up a lot of space. If you’re considering keeping this machine underneath your wall-mounted cupboards, bear in mind that you’ll still need to be able to reach the top of the coffee maker because that’s where you’ll add either coffee beans or ground coffee. The DeLonghi Magnifica Evo ECAM290.81.TB also features a reservoir for brewed coffee, accommodating the brewing needs of multiple cups. The built-in display provides a user-friendly interface, making it easy to navigate and customize settings. Overall, this espresso machine is a reliable and durable choice, constructed with high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting performance.I guess the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo might not be the best bet for households with multiple coffee drinkers. There aren’t any user profiles to speak of, so you’ll be in constant danger of losing your espresso macchiato settings the next time someone uses the machine.

There is a steam arm and a coffee dispenser on the front of the machine and the latter is very easy to slide up and down so that you can fit a variety of mug sizes beneath it. This is a simple but very welcomed design element as many machines require you to move the drip tray to fit a taller mug beneath the dispenser.Believe me when I tell you that making quality coffee drinks with the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo is a piece of cake. Since you don’t have to deal with a display or menus, simply press the specialty coffee button of your choice – once briefly for the factory default, longer to start customizing settings. The milk carafe has helpful indicators showing how much milk is required for either one or two cappuccinos or latte macchiatos but if you’re using the My Latte selection, it will steam as much milk as you put into the carafe. This is handy for filling a specific cup or mug, as you can just pour in the amount of milk you want, and a sensor behind the milk carafe stops the steaming process once the carafe is empty. The automatic sensor is a welcome new addition, as most of De’Longhi’s older (and often dramatically pricier) machines used to just carry on squirting out clouds of steam after the carafe was empty, leaving you to prod furiously at the cancel button. None of this is a big deal. But in my experience, simplicity in the right places is never a disadvantage. DeLonghi Magnifica Evo First Impressions With the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo I can really present you with something new – a fully automatic coffee machine of the lower middle class with an intelligent milk foam system.
