This pair is also special for the 56-76 mm interpupillary distance. The interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the center of the pupils in each eye. This distance is important for binocular vision, as it helps the eyes to focus on a single object. You know what? If the IPD is too small, the eyes will have difficulty converging on an object, and if the IPD is too large, the eyes will have difficulty focusing on an object. The ideal IPD for binocular vision is between 55 and 65 mm. In this case, this pair of binoculars is perfectly suitable for any outdoor activity. During our hands-on Celestron SkyMaster 8x56 review , we thought they were suitable for astronomy and performed well across a wide range of observation environments, such as looking for birds and other wildlife and spotting athletes at the stadium. These binoculars are designed to withstand diverse weather conditions effortlessly. Nitrogen-filled and sealed, they prevent condensation or fogging, ensuring prolonged use without issues, and with a generous eye relief of 18mm, they provide comfort for glasses wearers. While the field of view, representing the width of the area you can see, is decent at 5.8 degrees, it is not extraordinary.

Although it's impossible to see much detail in the giant planet's cloud-tops, we could easily discern Jupiter's four big moons Ganymede, Europa, Callisto and Io. When trained on Polaris, the North Star, we were treated to a sharp view of the 'engagement ring' of nine stars around it. Ditto the stars of the Beehive Cluster in Cancer, from which we got immersive and contrast-heavy views, with only a slight drop in sharpness detectable towards the edge of the field of view. It's barely noticeable, only being an issue when sweeping the Nikon Action EX 12x50 binoculars across the rich star fields of the Milky Way. Nikon Action EX 12x50 binoculars: Functionality

No matter what you intend to use your scopes for, the Celestron 71376 granite binoculars will make sure you can see your mark in stunning detail with accurate colors. The multi-coated lenses give one of the best viewing experiences of any model we tested. Even better, these binoculars are tough enough to go anywhere with you, at any time. With many parts constructed from metal, they’re durable; plus, they’re waterproof and fog proof, so you don’t have to worry about inclement weather taking a toll on your tool. Although these binoculars come with a harness, we realized during our review that the padded case forms part of the harness so you can't use one without the other which is a little frustrating. These are some of the finest handheld binoculars for stargazing and wildlife observation. The Extra-low dispersion (ED) objective lenses produce aberration-free sharp images. The view through the Vortex Crossfire HD 10x50 binoculars is sharp and clear, with stars appearing as perfect pinpoints of light. While observing brighter objects, you may notice some slight color distortion, but this is common for binoculars in this price range. Nevertheless, the Vortex Crossfire HD 10x50 offers an excellent balance of brightness and sharpness across the entire field of view. During our Vortex 10x50 Crossfire HD review, we only observed a tiny drop-off towards the very edges of the field of view.

Notably, there are two major types of prisms used in binoculars, namely Porro and Roof prisms. One example of Porro prism binos from the list above is the Pentax SP. Porro prisms invert and reverse light, allowing the user to receive the magnified image in the correct orientation. The fully multi-coated lenses ensure optimal light transmission for a brighter image, and the adjustable eyecups provide a custom fit. This binocular features dielectric coating, which ensures maximum light transmission and vivid images. At the same time, it comes with an Armortek coating, which protects the lenses from scratches and other damage. As for the eye relief in binos, it’s the maximum distance from the ocular lens that users can see the entire viewing angle. This is especially crucial for people who wear glasses as sometimes they can only see part of the image in the ocular lenses. As such, binos like the Pentax SP are better suited for them as the large 20mm eye relief ensures they can see the entirety of the whole image. Vortex 10x50 Crossfire HD BinocularIf you want to move up to the next level with your binocular stargazing, then the roof prisms on these binoculars bring super-sharp views and come with a useful harness and an excellent padded case.★★★★ The UK importer, Newpro, are based in a quiet corner of Oxfordshire from where they exclusively promote, and regularly and very speedily deliver, our favourite range of binoculars and spotting scopes They deliver clear and focused images in the center of your field of view, especially when observing stars. However, there might be some curvature noticeable as you move towards the edges of the 5.5-degree field of view. Overall, we think the Skywatcher Action EX 12x50 provides an excellent observing experience.

Canon 10x42L IS WP binoculars: They're not perfect, but they’re as close as you’ll get for hand-held astronomy. They're an outstanding choice for super-steady stargazing thanks to their image stabilization, waterproof design and large objective lenses. ★★★★★ The Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50 uses a roof prism design whose primary advantage is a space-efficient, more portable design. Essentially two tubes attached by a hinge (as opposed to the L-shaped optical engine between the tubes on a pair of porro prism binoculars), the Celestron Nature DX ED 12x50's tubes are nitrogen-purged to help reduce the threat of internal fogging. The Celestron TrailSeeker 8x42 binoculars are perfect for moving between contrasting temperatures, like transitioning from a warm indoor environment to the cold outdoors on a chilly night. Thanks to their nitrogen purging and waterproof design, they won't fog up, allowing you to use them comfortably for extended periods during observations without any problems. With the lightweight construction of the CL Companion binoculars and the impeccable build quality, you can be sure your investment will withstand the test of time, which is what you would expect as these are far from cheap. But I say you get what you pay for and the optical quality of these binoculars is possibly the best on the market. The Celestron Nature DX 12x56 binoculars are an excellent option for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy activities like wildlife observation, bird watching and astronomy. They provide mid-range optics performance at a budget-friendly price, making them affordable and suitable for stargazing with their 12x magnification and wide 56mm objective lenses. Plus, these binoculars offer 16mm of eye relief, making them comfortable for people who need to wear glasses.

The Porro prism attachment makes the image resolution outstanding. The zigzag pattern of this prism increases light transmission as well as controls unnecessary light reflection. Besides, the lens is fully multi-coated. You will get incredible image quality with every use. They're more like two 100mm refractor telescopes glued together and they give enormous reach. If you see a brownish tint, then your optics are coated with calcium fluoride. Both offer the same outcome — they halt the reflection of some wavelengths, allowing more light to enter your eyes through the exit pupils.
