My favourite thing in the world is to start a new song. Every time, you think: “This is going to be the big one.” It rarely is, but anything can happen – like with I Predict a Riot. Every band has a best song – and that was ours. Simon Rix, bassist, co-writer We literally all cried when the song got to number 22. [It reached number nine on rerelease nine months later.] We’d been going seven years, we’d made an album that never came out, we’d done the toilet circuit, been dropped, started again. I remember seeing it on an advert for Byker Grove. Chris Moyles did a cover version – I Predict a Diet – but I didn’t know Westlife had covered it until you told me. The second video, directed by Swedish collective StyleWar, gained more airplay. The main plot is the band wandering and performing in an Edwardian town, catching the attention of a mysterious freak show owner. The climax of the features the band performing on the stage of a crowded replica of The Globe Theatre. Mr Ond from East Sussex - Almost Brighton, Englandthere are now 24 hour pub opening hours in britainLexie from London, England1) I think the whole 'thee' thing is just a way of adding character to the song and giving the Kaiser Chiefs something of a signature move Rico from Melbourne, AustraliaGreat timing from Kaiser Chiefs - they might not have predicted the circumstances but the riots in France are on and its not long after the release of this album :) But, while the city boasted a thriving alternative music scene with the opportunity to discover new bands and listen to the latest indie tunes the likes of The Faversham, Mint, and The HiFi Club, it was also a student town; a hub of super-clubs and cheap nights out.

Stu from Fife, ScotlandYep. According to my Concise Oxford dictionary, "lairy" is an alternative form of the word "leery". John Smeaton is now of course long gone, and part of the history books, just like some of the infamous Leeds hangouts the Kaiser Chiefs would have grown up around.
