I haven’t fully checked the pyramid, but I don’t need to, I already know that the leather is dominant in here. Much like Gabricookies, I don't detect honey at all- and given that honey notes are the sheer killer of any perfume for me, thats saying something. The dry down makes the fragrance still professional and serious, but lighter, friendlier, calmer but still with an ambitious competitive edge, and still with a penchant of taking no bs, which is what I want my scent to evoke.

Unfortunately the performance is absolutely abysmal on my skin, there isn't much projection to begin with (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), but it becomes a skin scent in 1-1,5 hours, and it's totally gone in 2-2,5. If this is the type of patchouli used here that could explain the beautiful wood notes I'm smelling. It starts of very boozy like you have been getting nice and intoxicated and ready to loose your inhibitions.Either way, Gucci comes with a powerful burst of patchouli which later reveals a beautiful cool toned, almost icy tiare flower scent which starts dominating the overall composition. The older batches perform better and the tobacco note is more pronounced, but it's hard to find now and not worth the effort with so many modern-day fragrance choices. You have to love cypress (pine like smell), bergamot (citrussy wood), tobacco smell and don't mind a little flower. Maybe a little dated, by like 20 years, but now you'd say it's a "classic" fragrance like Geoffrey Beene's "Bowling Green.

UPDATE: I wanted to understand why this perfume is so popular, so approached the vial again (with extreme caution) to determine what the top notes were that I couldn't stand. I love the dry down as it mellows to a leather and woods base that rather than halts at being a stale and stagnant, smells sweet and refined. Why on earth would a designer attach their name to a fragrance that only lasts an hour is beyond me. It gets warmer and muskier, the patchouli gets a little crisper even as it dries down, to cut through the musk and honey. The honey and musk notes fortify the core of this fragrance, patchouli, making it by far one of the best patchouli fragrances out there.considering the modern offering, this scent smells now more complex, interesting and very masculine. I love love love this perfume, its addictive, its my all time favorite go to perfume every day - I never tire of it - its sweet yet dark maybe even slightly spicy, its intriguing and alluring. Even after several tries I‘m not 100% sure what to make of it - It can be warm and sensual, but then a scratchy note emerges that really ruins it for me, something artificially clean. I do get the Tiare flowers as part of this creaminess, and there is a slightly fruity note that I couldn't put my finger on.

If you are very extraverted or emotional, the spell that comes along with this scent might be spoiled. It's at the mid notes that you get a craving for more of what this scent has to bring, but it is also at this point that the scent just seems to restrain itself. Few minutes later the bergamot fades away, and I smell a very light/airy tobacco/cypress combination with a special herbal/camphor vibe. The Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Eau de Toilette is an oriental fragrance with notes of orange blossom, orchid and musk that’s sure to turn heads wherever you go. the performance is the main downside of this scent, the projection and longevity are slightly below average.

I don't think it's awful, but I do see why it got discontinued (giving no offense at all to those who adore it - i apologize it got discontinued to those who really love it), I'm just stating that I can see why many dislike it, if that makes sense. Nice smoky/clean scent that won't make you win a Nobel prize for originality (actually, no fragrance will) but will make you smell good which I guess is our main objective when we purchase any fragrance.
