What was once a simple meal for an Island crofter has grown incredibly across the UK and the rest of the world. Made exclusively in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, it has an important place in Scottish culinary tradition.

The application for PGI status came about after the food was threatened by "impostor puddings" labelled as Stornoway but made outside of the Western Isles.
