St Matthew's Church is opening its doors to celebrate Coronation weekend with a special afternoon tea for over 50s on Sunday, May 7. Head to the historic Cardiff Castle to watch the coronation ceremony on the big screen. From 2–8 May, you can visit Chelmsford Cathedral to explore a regal coronation display exploring the history and symbolism of the coronation ceremony. The platinum selling Puppini Sisters and queens of close harmony will be performing swing-style re-workings of modern pop songs on stage between 6pm–8pm. Eileen Hogan has been commissioned to paint the Coronation Service itself from within Westminster Abbey. She is the first woman to have been appointed in this role. Hogan is Emeritus Professor at the University of the Arts London, a Trustee of the Royal Drawing School and an Ambassador for the Salvesen Mindroom Centre. You'll have more control if you use a thin paint brush for the final step so make sure you have a clean one ready.

On Saturday 6 May, come together in Piccadilly Gardens as the historic crowing of King Charles III will be shown on a big screen. As one of the many big screens in public places across the country, the screen in Piccadilly Gardens gives you the opportunity to come together with your local community and celebrate a moment in history. The city will be celebrating together, and you’re invited to join the party. The screen will be live broadcasting the Coronation ceremony on Saturday 6th May and the Coronation Concert on Sunday 7th May. This is a free and public event, just turn up and join in. On 6 May, Chelmsford Cathedral will join churches and cathedrals across the country in a Ring for The King to mark the Coronation. If you don't want to do a flag, just get creative with the flag colours instead – stripes, polka dots and other abstract designs are just as fun!

Over in Trafford, the Coronation ceremony will be shown on screens set up in the Sale Waterside arts centre, with access from 10.30am to the Robert Bolt Theatre for an 11am start.

Located just outside King’s Lynn, Bawsey Country Park covers over 180 acres of lush woodland and sparkling lakes, and will be home to family-friendly games, and hot and cold refreshments to celebrate the coronation. The Coronation weekend is coming up fast with just over a week to go, so we’ve gathered this guide to celebrations taking place across Chelmsford to mark the event. City Centre celebratory decorations Manchester Cathedral will also be showing a live screening of the Coronation of King Charles III, so you can watch this historic event surrounded by the grandeur and beauty of this grade I listed church. It will be like you’re at Westminster Abbey yourself. The Dean of Manchester is inviting the local community to come together and watch the action live including the build-up, the Coronation ceremony and the King’s Procession. Entry is free and doors will be open from 9:30am after morning prayer.Over by Central Park, our distinctive willow crown, created to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, will be adorned with stunning solar red, white and blue lights from 2 May.
