In a world of demanding egos and overly pressing schedules, Sally sought refuge in her true passion, classical music. “ I auditioned for the London Symphony Orchestra Chorus in 1973 and passed“, says. “ It helped me escape insanity, and it was my secret. Until Jagger heard me sing the high notes of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” on the plane and asked me to bring the choir to sing at Knebworth’s concert in 1976· and i did it!» What an absolutely fascinating read this book was. I think that, if we’re honest, most of us like to have a bird’s eye view into peoples’ lives when they are vastly different to our own, and Sally Arnold’s life was certainly different than most. Exceeding the boundaries was never a problem, except once” during the Stones’ European tour in 1976. He was a stupid boy, a roadie, who could have invited me for a drink or a meal, and instead threw himself into an elevator». A plane tragedy changed her life

Soon, however, the spontaneous jet-set lifestyle morphed into an unpredictable, chaotic lifestyle. Meanwhile, five-month-old Jade became more attached to Sally. And she loved her: “ I was with her 24 hours a day, feeding her, bathing her, holding her in my arms, it’s natural». The song 'Fat Bottomed Girls' has a lovely four part harmony, doesn't it? I don't think there's any deep meaning in it, unless you want to say it means beauty is only skin deep or whatever. It was while Sally was at Norland Nursery Training College her life started to change meeting celebrities after taking a job at the Marquee Club. When Sally moves on to organising charity events, she has to manage other larger-than-life personalities such as Billy Connolly and Rowan Atkinson. Sally also handles famous names from Princess Diana and the Duke of Edinburgh, to Mikhail Gorbachev and Poet Laureate Ted Hughes. I also wonder about the blasé descriptions of drug use and abuse, given the damage the author has observed over the years with so many people close to her. I’m sure it was all jolly good fun at the time, but as the damage to users and their families accumulates, I would have thought a more nuanced description to drug abuse might have been applied to the behaviour described.Ben from Nyc, MsDoes It Really matter what Mr. Mercuries sexual choices were?? He is up there with Robert Plant As a Singer and Should Be RESPECTED!!!!

Sally’s maternal grandfather Charles Marques an MBE, started up his own company Concrete Utilities, making lamp columns and farm buildings. The book is well written and held my interest throughout so I would definitely recommend that you go and give it a read. Blake from Tahlequah, Okoh man luke thats a good one if I didnt live 30,000 some odd miles away I'd like to meet you......that just made my top ten list! Bonnie from Washington, DcI love this song and there ain't nothing sexist about it! Now, if it had been a rant about how fat-bottomed girls are unattractive compared to super thin fashion models or other stereotypes of "beauty," that would be sexist. Nevertheless, I think this book will find an audience of people who are interested in not only the music of the 1960s to 1990s, but also in the lifestyles and behind-the-scenes of the music industry and tours. The book may also be an inspiration to women pursuing a career in an industry dominated by men.None from None , WyThis song always made me think of one of those disturbing, unfortunate incidents that occur more and more often, these days, when babysitters are left with small children for too long... you know, with the verse: Arnold lived and worked in a man’s world, but “ I liked it“, he admits, “ and actually, one thing i miss is those big hugs. On tour we were a very close family».

The narrative in the book is recounted with some assistance from Sally’s old diary extracts, and it all adds up to being let in to see what an extraordinary life this remarkable woman has had. After moving on from nannying five-month-old Jade and returning from travelling around Asia, Jagger’s driver called Arnold to inform her of a job going as The Rolling Stones's tour manager. Bel Air mansions, luxury hotels, private jets, extravagant presents and famous introductions all came with the role, but as Arnold puts it, so did instability. ‘As soon as one fire was put out, another arose’, she recalls. Kevin from Bridgeport, CtAnd the song is anything but sexist. Its a very humorous song...and live Freddie would say its for all the beautiful women in the audience...and he finds all women beautiful. Eric from St Paul Mn UsaLike another song about big butts (recorded in the 90s by Sir Mix-a-lot); this song still gets a LOT of airplay and requests at wedding receptions, parties, and bars. ironically, skinny girls like both songs too.

When will my order arrive?

I marveled at how much she moved around, renting or selling apartments and cottages as her work situations evolved. She also worked for various charity entities setting up events, eventually starting her own event planning company. She even sat side by side with Princess Diana for some charity events, with some down to earth conversations to share, as well as photos of them together. Sally also collaborated with iconic Hollywood actor Paul Newman to utilize proceeds from his "Newman's Own" brand to funnel into UK charities. I am grateful to NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Winston from Potomac, MdSexist things objectify women - so the song is indeed sexist, because the women are characterized by their bottoms.

Bridget from CoDon't know why, but once toward the end of history class our teacher was talking, and with a part of a reaction video where one girl commented on this song in mind, I commented, "Queen's Jazz album!" He agreed. Still don't know why I said that. Sally Arnold is a remarkable woman to be able to recall all her memories and capture each of the eras mentioned. Even though it’s a completely different lifestyle to most if not all people, I could picture all her memories clearly in my own head. Growing up in the swinging sixties and working through the turbulent 70’s, the names mentioned that she’s either met, worked for, worked with or dated is truly phenomenal. This book was like a who’s who of the celebrity world through one woman’s life. Luke from Manchester, EnglandJust for the record: I am not homphobic or disrespectful to Freddie or anyone who's gay. I made a joke about it being Fat bottommed boys and you PC ballbags came down heavy on it - Lighten up and get a life. Freddie would have made the same joke himself. And for the record, Fred was gay, not bi, he said himself "I am as gay as a daffodil, my dear". Research, it is your friend. When I listened to Queen, I never, ever thought- omg, Freddie Mercury is gay. It never mattered- he was a GENIUS (in my opinion).

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Literally PR.
