I've participated in diets, attended slimming clubs, shared recipes, toned down my favourite foods into healthier alternatives, and sacrificed the food I enjoy.

James attacks a heaps of myths and fads and in doing so potentially saves you a lot of discomfort, shame and money. I sat down at 08:30 after putting my kids to bed and decided that I would read the introduction to this book before putting Netflix on and relaxing with the wife. For instance, despite stating he is no relationship guru, nor qualified career advisor, his advice of "if it's not f*ck yeah, it's a no," has dangerous connotations.

I had to keep relaying it) But mostly, it was a good read about eating healthier and choosing to burn more calories then eating more calories. James is an expert in his field and has gone through everything most people have when it comes to lifestyle, diet and training in the UK (and beyond). He delivers it in the form of a witty (in parts) and combative help yourself life coach memoir in which he hopes to send the reader on a journey of enlightened self discovery. The type of a person, who constantly compares themselves to others and feels like a failure, especially when scrolling through Instagram profiles of fitness influencers. And yes, spending time in a job you don't "absolutely love" is not ideal - but circumstances don't always allow for that. That's why this book is so good at delivering its message, and it can apply to anyone as an individual. He claims that his new book – which is released on the 1st of September this year – is his best one yet.

Then a chapter dedicated to the author's rather unremarkable life story, and currently running through a chapter on why the different main stream diets don't work. There are some principles though, that I think are more typical of a younger generation, and not quantified by James' expertise or level of life experience, and would be dangerous if taken to heart. James Smith (born 1989) is a personal trainer and social media influencer best known for posting fitness advice videos across various platforms. I'm sure lots of young ladies will think he's brilliant and he'll conquer many bed posts because according to the the law of averages he reckons if I dislike him (which he wants) more WILL LIKE him.

The book didn't advise me on ways of how to do this because James knows it would be a fruitless exercise, but he does instill a confidence in you to build a plan and a framework to start this, and to knuckle down and wait for the results. Also wouldn't it have been logical to do an ebook (which he constantly tells us he has also do to reach as many people as possible/make as much money as possible lol), see how it goes then do a real book.
