Description

The green channel is reduced somewhat and the blue channel is slightly stronger but significantly reduced compared to factory defaults. The deviation between each quadrant and the quadrant closest to the 6500K (D65) daylight white point target was analysed and a DeltaE value assigned.

High-contrast VA panels make for amazing image quality on gaming monitors, but speedy IPS implementations are quickly moving to a position of domination in the speediest part of the genre. Running Aim Stabilizer with Adaptive-Sync and Smart Overdrive made the moving image a hair smoother. Futuristic-looking lines are set around a button for activating KVM mode, which lets you control two PCs connected to the monitor with one keyboard and mouse, and the joystick for controlling the on-screen display (OSD).Perceived blur due to eye movement is the dominant form of perceived blur observed on a modern monitor, but both factors play an important role. The M27Q opts for Super Speed (SS) IPS, Gigabyte’s branding for IPS tech that achieves lower response times by using a thinner liquid crystal layer and higher driving voltage than standard IPS screens. Smart OD’ is supposed to function as variable overdrive, but it’s not very effective and should be avoided.

The monitor also offers 95% Adobe RGB coverage, a colour gamut biased towards the green to cyan region of the gamut but similar to sRGB in the red and blue corners of this gamut representation. The black luminance was taken at the same point of the video with the colorimeter offset to the side of the white test patch, equidistant between the test patch and edge of the monitor bezel. Whilst ‘IPS glow’ ate away at this in some regions, there wasn’t a clear vertical detail gradient as you’d see on a TN model. The blue colour channel is weakened a fair bit, producing a warmer image and reducing blue light output.

We found the adjustments quite gradual and gentle and didn’t really keep up with or in some cases seem appropriate for the content being displayed. Comparing HDR to SDR in this game showed a brighter overall environment for HDR but better detail and color saturation in SDR mode. This indicates low viewing angle dependency to the gamma curve of the monitor, as typical for an IPS-type panel. It isn’t sufficient to give darker shades such as dimly lit interiors a deep or ‘inky’ look, particularly when viewed in a dim to moderately dim room.Les couleurs des produits peuvent ne pas être parfaitement exacts en raison de variations causées par des variables photographiques ou les paramètres du moniteur et les images présentes sur notre site peuvent varier. But this is underselling the gamut, really, as there’s some extension beyond DCI-P3 in places as well – particularly in the green region. The table below shows the luminance recorded at each quadrant as well as the percentage deviation between each quadrant and the brightest recorded point.
