Description

Included here in revised, more finely edited versions are the Rollin video intro (2m21s), a "Rituels" (7m42s) making-of featurette by Daniel Gouyette (Rollin's assistant) with Nathalie Perry and Lahaie, the D'Aram interview (19m42s), the deleted sex scenes, the "Virgins and Vampires" episode, and the French trailer, plus a 74-image gallery. The Seventh Seal (software uniformly simulated HDR) , The Maltese Falcon (software uniformly simulated HDR) . But, the print is missing the opening credits (~1:25) of two girls dancing on a bridge next to a gramophone. Er findet Zuflucht hinter den Mauern eines Schlosses, das verlassen scheint, aber zwei junge Frauen beherbergt.

Her character doesn't become really all that interesting until the closing moments of the film; perhaps that's because Rollin tries to infuse a romantic, loving connection between her and Marc, which is way too difficult to believe under these circumstances. A criminal on the run hides out in an old chateau and ends up the victim of a strange blood-drinking cult of women. Unfortunately, when one of the girls takes a liking to him and tries to warn him to leave before nightfall, his old gang shows up and a shootout occurs. If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. He followed this up with an adaptation of another of his plays – The Woman Between, trade-shown in January 1931 – and then went straight into Fascination, which was shot at BIP's Elstree studios for Regina Films and trade-shown a few months later, in July 1931.Fascination is presented here in a brand-new transfer from the only remaining copy of the film known to exist - a nitrate print. On the morning of their feeding shindig, Marc (Jean Marie Lemaire), a suave professional thief, just so happens to require shelter in their cheteau from his recently-spurned partners in crime. From this strange opening sequence, we cut to a band of thieves fresh from a well executed bank robbery carrying with them a whole lot of loot, obviously the fruits of their labors. Fascination is presented in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio.

This isn't an overly aggressive mix, again this is an older low budget film, but the dialogue is perfectly balanced against the score and there are no problems at all with any hiss or distortion. His films can be said to be fantasy films mixed with horror , although this one is more straight horror. There is apparently also a heavily cut German DVD on the market, with a classification lower than FSK-18. It's pretty stunning to see the kind of rich images that he's able to compose with such miniscule budgets, especially some of his more iconic shots -- such as the erratic hand-cam capturing that surrounds the lush shot of Eva approaching the house as she scuttles up adorned with nothing more than a skimpy black cloak and a scythe. If you're a Rollin fan, get this captivating film on Blu-ray immediately; if you're not, consider opening your mind and putting your toe in the inviting waters - you may find yourself jumping in completely! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. There are loads of clips and stills used here to represent the director's work and this documentary, while not quite comprehensive given that it was made before Rollin finished working, is quite a great addition to this release - it's also presented in high definition. The closest British film ever got to having its own Garbo, Madeleine Carroll continues to fascinate viewers nearly ninety years after her cinematic debut.

There's plenty to look at throughout with the inside, outside, atmosphere, and the plentiful nude scenes. This particular release has been discontinued, however you may still be able to find second-hand copies. Sure, Fascination exists as more exploitation than meditative horror film; however, it's not without thought, poise, and distinction in structure. For instance, the "action" and gunplay scenes at the beginning of this film are very amateurishly shot and staged. The scenes with Brigitte slaying with the scythe could've been more effective if they were more graphic.
