Battlestar Galactica': Remastered (HD, 6 min.) – Sadly, this is the only brand-new bonus feature on this entire release. However, it does give a nice behind-the-scenes look at how the series was updated to widescreen for the 'next generation' of viewers. (Note: This bonus feature only appears on Disc 6 of the widescreen original series set – it does not appear on Disc 6 of the full frame version.) Season 4.5: The Untold Story - Untold (SD, Disc 2, 2 minutes) – A television preview for season 4.5. Clearly this didn’t ring true for the new narrative, so the Cylons here are much more formidable, and many look and act as humans. To twist that further, some of the Cylons onboard the Galactica aren’t even aware they’re not human, fifth-columnists who don’t even know they’re working for the other side. This entire dimension to Galatica was a masterstroke, because the revelations of who is and isn’t a Cylon as the show progresses entirely changes the viewers’ perceptions and the characters’ motivations.

All ten webisodes are included here and together they fill in some of the gaps between season Two and Three concentrating, not surprisingly, on the Resistances' exploits. The Oracle shows up again, but is this time joined by Battlestar Actual a bibliography of the technical terms used. Audio Commentary: 'Revelations' (Disc 2) – Commentary with Ronald D. Moore, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, and editor Julius Ramsay. Podcast Commentary: 'A Disquiet Follows My Soul' (Disc 1) – Podcast commentary with Ronald D. Moore. Deleted Scenes (SD, Disc 1, 12 minutes) – Deleted scenes from episodes 'He That Believeth in Me,' 'Six of One,' 'That Ties That Bind,' 'Escape Velocity,' 'The Road Less Traveled.' Glen Larson on the Creation of Battlestar Galactica (480i; 5:47): As the title implies, Larson discusses the various aspects and mythology of the series. Deleted Scenes (SD, Disc 1, 42 minutes) – Deleted scenes from episodes 'Scattered,' 'Valley of Darkness,' 'Fragged,' 'Resistance,' and 'The Farm.'My Favorite Episode So Far (SD, 11 minutes) – The cast and crew reflect on their favorite episodes of the series. Deleted Scenes (SD, Disc 5, 8 minutes) – Deleted scenes from episodes 'The Son Also Rises,' and 'Crossroads: Parts 1 & 2.' These include a few minor documentaries from the Season 1 DVD release, another from a special release of Razor and a few Sci-Fi Channel commissioned specials. One that they might be able to restore using BD-J functionality is the online 10 episode The Face Of The Enemy, which fleshes out the complex personality of Felix Gaeta. Extended Episode: 'Unfinished Business' (HD, Disc 3) – The unrated extended version of this episode. Another huge bunch of deleted scenes for just about every episode with a combined run time of around 45 minutes, another place to get more BSG fix.

The series is heavy on dialogue, and Universal has done a great job making it clear and well-prioritized. Sometimes it can still sound a bit distant and constrained, but that's just a very minor quibble and it doesn't really detract from the experience. Extended Episode: 'Daybreak' (HD, Disc 3) – The unrated extended version of the series finale that runs about half an hour longer.

Deleted Scenes (SD, Disc 3, 12 minutes) – Deleted scenes from episodes 'The Passage,' 'The Eye of Jupiter,' and 'Rapture.' Text based The Oracle plus an additional Battlestar Blips, which is again text based trivia information and facts. Inside 'Battlestar Galactica': The Cylons (SD, 5 min.) – Members of the cast and crew talk about those walking toasters and how difficult filming often proved. (Ported over from the 2003 DVD release.) In their infinite wisdom, the folks over at Universal believe that no one but loyal fans and purists would ever want to see 'Battlestar Galactica' is its original full frame format (which, by the way, are available in the larger, more expensive Definitive Collection should you wish to splurge for that version), so as part of this remastering of the series, they've created a brand-new 1.78:1 widescreen version of each episode. Despite losing information at the top and bottom of each scene, the widescreen episodes are actually pretty well framed and I was surprised at how good most (but not all) of the series works in the new format.
