I found this pretty disappointing, but as I was deeply invested in the rest of the story, I gave it a pass. Going back and forth between the human and fae realms, Breen learns all about her family, blood, and mysterious past.

There are enough characters we love in this trilogy that there needs to be a short story that follows up on the end for the rest of the major characters. Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids. The climax is so short and over so fast it was completely unsatisfying, much like Breen’s sex life, and this book in general.Other themes that are prevalent include prejudice, fighting for what you believe in, embracing love, and the importance of family. The Choice is the 3rd and final in the epic trilogy, The Dragon Heart Legacy, by Nora Roberts and it was amazing!

Breen knew she was the key, but did she have it in her to set Talamh free and allow peace to settle gently on the valley, the Capital, so the future would be the best it could be?With the enemy cast out and the portal sealed it is a time to recover but there is little time to rest. I’ve only noticed this before in one other book I read by the author, so it was an unexpected and unwelcome surprise. In this trilogy and her last, Chronicles of the One, Nora has made a radical departure from the cozy and comfortable storytelling I fell in love with as a teen. Working with Keegan, Talamh's taoiseach, while they checked each of the portals for cracks, and sealed them if there were, making sure the tribes were prepared.

But the fantasy world itself was beautiful, and was the epitome of everything I consider fantasy at my core.We get lots of focus on Marco and Bollocks and we get to see Breen concentrating on her training to try to be ready to face Odran. Breen is an incredible MC and heroine and just a good example of a human being with a heart to admire, as well as kickass with the personal growth. Our main character, Breen, has grown tremendously from when we were first introduced to her in The Awakening. However, one thing I have to mention is what I found to be an odd lack of chemistry between Breen and her love interest.

I’ll be honest with how slow this book moved and all the details we got, I was very surprised we were told and not shown conversation with the elf for the bridle that was made to barter for the horse. All the way along she wrote about what would happen “after the defeat of Breen’s grandfather” but the book ended so abruptly that we never got that far!I do feel like Nora is getting stronger and stronger at her battle scenes, and the build up needed to have them be impactful. I did feel like the climax - which we have been heading towards for three books - was a bit "anti climactic" and the ending felt unbelievably rushed. It isn’t a standalone, so you have read the first two books to follow this one, but if you like amazing world-building, dynamic characters and relationships, unique fantasy elements, and entertaining storytelling that will make you laugh and cry, then I would definitely recommend the series. The listener is also treated to other romances, including those of Breen’s LGBTQ friend and moments with other couples in Talamh.
