Description

The X-T5 has dual memory card slots, just the X-T4, and just like the X-T4 it has two UHS-II SD card slots, rather than one UHS-II SD slot and one CFexpress Type B slot as seen on the recent X-H2S and X-H2 cameras. Battery Life The new X-T5 has a slightly lower base sensitivity of ISO 125, which can be expanded down to ISO 64 and up to ISO 51,200. Video So it really comes down to what you want and what shoot. The X-T5 is a more 'traditional' enthusiast camera in both looks and handling, while the X-H2 is for professionals. Both will take Fujifilm X-mount lenses.

Fujifilm X-T5 in-depth review - Digital Photography Review

Gordy’s– Gordyscamerastraps– Gordy’s straps exude a handcrafted quality, lending them a rustic appeal. Built to last, they are sturdy and dependable, making them an excellent choice for those seeking a unique touch. I’ve personally used a Gordy’s wrist strap for an extended period of time and can attest to its durability. With the X-T5's bump to 40.2 megapixels, it's a clear leader when it comes to resolving fine detail, easily beating the 32.5MP EOS R7, as well as the full-frame Z 6II.

These are essential cleaning products. This is the best way to clean UV filters or lenses since they won’t leave behind any lint or dust.

This test compares the amount of random noise generated by the camera at different ISO settings as a proportion of the actual image information (the 'signal'). Higher values are better and we expect to see the signal to ratio fall as the ISO is increased. Both models offer the same 15fps continuous shooting speed when using the mechanical shutter. Image credit: Andy Westlake The Fujifilm XT5 is still a tempting choice for portraits. The mix of detail and character Fujifilm lenses offer is great along with Fujifilm colors. Eye AF does a bit better at not focusing on the eyelashes, though there will be some misses, particularly in AF-C. The classic dials for shutter speed and ISO will be loved by many. And, the body is both durable and lightweight.

You could perhaps buy a full-frame camera for the same price, but it’ll be old and under-specified in comparison, and not as nice to use. Indeed to match the X-T5’s resolution and all-round spec, you’re looking at much more expensive models such as the Canon EOS R5, Nikon Z 7II, Panasonic S1R or Sony Alpha 7R IV, not to mention a pricey lens set to match them. You have to pre-select the subject type – the camera can’t recognise animals and birds at the same time. Fujifilm X-T5, XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR at 240mm, 1/5000sec at f/5.6, ISO 8000 The design means that the camera settings are always visible, tactile and can even be changed without powering up the camera. Unlike the best DSLRs you don’t need (or get) a mode dial, which can be confusing at first but it's something that you get used to with practice. To illustrate this, I’ve put the XF 23 1.4 on the left with the original XF 10-24 on the right, adjusted to deliver the same field of view and both set to f4 where they delivered their crispest results for this subject. As you can see the zoom on the right is visibly softer and resolving less detail. Again this difference would also be noticeable on the lower resolution models, but I wanted to show it here too.Mirrorless Cameras Canon EOS-R Mirrorless Cameras Fujifilm X Mirrorless Cameras Nikon Z Cameras Sony Alpha Cameras Panasonic Lumix S Cameras Panasonic Lumix G Cameras Olympus OM-D & PEN Cameras Canon EOS-M Mirrorless Cameras Sigma Mirrorless Cameras Just before wrapping-up, I wanted to mention some of the other photography features that are often overlooked. Photography newbies may have a bit of trouble with the fact that there’s not a green labeled auto mode. You have to turn the shutter speed dial, aperture dial, and ISO dial to the A position for that. But, the XT5 isn’t designated as an entry-level camera, and photographers familiar with manual mode will probably love the simple labeled controls for shutter speed and ISO. The X-T5 sees the welcome return of Fujifilm’s 3-way tilt screen, which is perfect for stills photography. Image credit: Andy Westlake At first, I thought it might be because the new processor makes the XT5 faster than the AF. But in the mechanical shutter, the XT5 isn’t any faster. It’s actually one fps slower on continuous low than the XT4. Fujifilm needs to focus its next round of updates on, well, focus.
